Basketball Play - Lanes Progression Drill

Lanes Progression Drill

Matt Hackenberg 12/09/2021

In this drill we go through a progression to improve on-the-ball defense. This drill also helps develop ball handling skills for offensive players. If you are a full court man-to-man pressing team, this drill is perfect for you. It works in a progression to refine technique, and then puts those techniques to the test. Basketball Play - Koufos Rebounding Drill

Koufos Rebounding Drill

Matt Hackenberg 12/09/2021

In this diagram and embedded video we look at one of our staple drills to improve our team rebounding, with both offensive and defensive rebounds. We discuss the setup of the drill, and touch on the technique we teach our players regarding rebounding. The best offensive rebounding team I’ve coached got 42% of of the available defensive rebounds, and this drill lays the foundation to control the glass. Basketball Play - Shallow Brush

Shallow Brush

Matt Hackenberg 12/07/2021

In this diagram and embedded video, we have an option for using a brush screen to get a dynamic driver a gap to penetrate. If this play is well timed, it will create an advantage for the offense. I like the simplicity and the spacing. I like that it can create an advantage quickly, and doesn't require a lot of players to handle the ball. Basketball Play - Crack Down Lob BLOB vs Zone

Crack Down Lob BLOB vs Zone

Matt Hackenberg 12/02/2021

It's baffling to me how often we would score on this simple play. We used it more as a BLOB special, about once every game or so. The less often you run it, the more effective it will be. The counter action, as seen in the diagram and in the embedded video, can also create some decent looks for your team, but that action requires more work once the ball is entered than the initial action. Basketball Play - Russia WBB - 14 Back Screen

Russia WBB - 14 Back Screen

Aaron Schuck 05/19/2021

The Russian Women's National Team is ranked 12th in the FIBA world rankings. I think what makes them dangerous is how they play fast in the half court. They make quick decisions and react quickly based on what the defense is doing. Here is a 1-4 high set where they look to throw over the top to a cutter off a back screen or hit the second cutter for an open 3. *New customers use code SAVE10 for 10% OFF Draw/Scout* See More

Drake Bulldogs WBB - Secondary Break

Aaron Schuck 02/19/2021

2019-2020 Drake University women's team overall offense ranked in the 97th percentile averaging 0.936 PPP. Their secondary break was a big part of their success on offense. They stretch defenses early creating early scoring opportunities with their cutting and screening. Here are 2 options I diagrammed. *New customers use code SAVE10 for 10% OFF Draw/Scout* See More

Basketball Play - Memphis Grizzlies - 21 Rip Clear

Memphis Grizzlies - 21 Rip Clear

Dave Nedbalek 09/09/2020

Great early offense transition set from the Grizzlies. This is a wrinkle out of their early offense to get Jaren Jackson an isolated post touch. His gravity will pull the single side open for Brandon Clarke's lob. The original wing is still in a free throw line extended position from the Pistol pitch ahead which makes his defender choose to tag Clarke's roll or stay attached to the shooter. Beautiful timing and spacing in this set. See More
