Basketball Play - Kansas - High Low

Kansas - High Low

FastModel Sports 12/08/2015

Here we take a look at the Kansas High Low Offense with a single screen option. This offense is run as a more complex alternative to the traditional motion offense. By moving one post to the top of the key, the alternating post has room to work inside the paint. Guards are constantly moving and cutting. This keeps the defense shuffling and the offense open for shots off the pass or dribble. - http://www.krossover.com/blog/2015/12/basketball-playbook-kansas-high-low-offense/ See More

Basketball Play - Boise State

Boise State

Dana Beszczynski 12/08/2015

In his first five seasons as head coach of the Boise State men's basketball team, Leon Rice has taken the Broncos to the NCAA Tournament twice and won at least 20 games four times. They have a very tall line-up and their guards & forwards can interchange in the Broncos Offensive schemes. This is a Motion look with backscreens, ball screens, lots of movement and ball reversal actions designed to move the defense into multiple rotations. See More

Basketball Play - Kentucky

Kentucky

Dana Beszczynski 12/08/2015

John Calipari has had 26 of his Kentucky players drafted in the NBA during his tenure in the Blue Grass State. In 2012 his Wildcats won the NCAA Championship. Last season, the Wildcats finished the season undefeated, but lost in the NCAA Finals to finish the year 38-1 with a perfect 18-0 record in the SEC. Calipari has been a Dribble Drive Motion guru at Kentucky and has tinkered with the system to fit his skilled players. In the last years, the Wildcats have incorporated some different looks to the system, but still like the drive and kick action of the DDM. This is a Diamond set which when executed through can provide many different scoring options. See More

Basketball Play - 3-on-3 Guts

3-on-3 Guts

Randy Sherman 10/21/2015

3-on-3 Guts is an excellent live drill for reviewing and polishing your team defensive fundamentals. Further, it is a live drill to teach players how to get through adversity. It stresses the importance of getting and stringing together defensive stops. This drill is also an opportunity for the offense to use motion offense principles RULES: Defense must make four consecutive stops before going to offense Stops are defined as defensive rebounds, steals or out of bounds possessions If the offense scores or gets fouled, the defensive "stop count" goes back to zero Offensive charges count as four stops Offense goes down and back and a new offensive group comes on the floor Do not change directions until the ball touches the rim or offense scores (teams switch directions after Defensive rebouds or Offensive FGM) Check the ball in after steals and fouls Offense must inbound the ball on all out of bounds situations See More

Basketball Play - Rip

Rip

Cody Toppert 09/18/2015

While there is a plethora of calls and reads you can work off of, if you are trying to run Push / C-Game as a motion you may want to limit weak side elbow action to one or two things. In this case we will review RIP, which is a rip screen into a flex look. The 1 hits the 4 at the elbow, then the 5 sets the rip screen for the 1 who cuts to the basket and then sprints opposite to set the flex screen for the 3 in the corner. After receiving the ball at the wing the 4 hits the 5 (big to big) and then sets the down screen on the 1 to complete the flex action. The 5 can hit the 3 on the flex cut, the 1 on the pin down or go DHO with the 1 as well. If he “checks down” and nothing is open DHO with the 2 is also an option. See More

Basketball Play - Golden State Warriors "Elbow Lob"

Golden State Warriors "Elbow Lob"

Gibson Pyper 06/01/2015

Steve Kerr has also used alot of action that the San Antonio Spurs have run with their Motion Strong/Weak and he runs nice options out of this for quick hitters. The first option is a rub screen for Draymond (look for them pointing or hitting their elbow's coming up the court to trigger this). They also run a quick pindown screen for Klay that they like to start each game with, as well as a lob set for Livingston. I think they will run the lob for Shaun Livingston as an entry or way to get him into the post, his matchup off the bench may be Matthew Dellevadova that he clearly will have a height advantage with. Basketball Play - NBA Golden State Warriors: Dribble Hand-Off / Pick and Roll Action

NBA Golden State Warriors: Dribble Hand-Off / Pick and Roll Action

Scott Peterman 05/24/2015

Here is a NBA Golden State Warriors Dribble Hand-Off / Pick and Roll Action from Game 3 of the NBA Western Conference Finals. Steve Kerr is doing an excellent job in getting great motion and action into his set plays for their players. The Golden State Warriors are the team that I want to watch in the NBA Play-offs for my new sets. Steve Kerry has installed a system that is like the NBA San Antonio Spurs in it's movement, flow and creativity. The starters and reserves have bought into this system all season. David Lee is even getting a second chance in these NBA Playoffs. He is seizing the moment too. Stephy Curry and Klay Thompson are indeed the Splash Brothers and either of them can go off for 20 points in a quarter at any moment. Curry is the MVP, but Thompson is likely to go off on any night. They were one of the best teams ever in the regular season, despite the trip up from the always difficult Memphis Grizzlies. I love this action and you will notice that I chose a play where Steph Curry isn't in the game. It's an example of how their reserves have bought in. Basketball Play - Los Angeles Clippers "45 PNR"

Los Angeles Clippers "45 PNR"

Gibson Pyper 04/27/2015

Chris Paul has really hurt the San Antonio Spurs in this years playoffs running this PNR Set. Doc Rivers called it "45" from the sideline (hand motion 4-5 blinking) and this set has allowed Chris Paul to attack off the PNR very well. Both bigs start at the elbows, and then flash near half court at the same time setting a ballscreen on each side for Chris Paul to attack off of. They have options where a big turns, but the main reason this set works is due to the fact that San Antonio likes to pressure high. It forces the bigs to make a decision and does not allow a guard to go under the ballscreen. See More

Basketball Play - 2 on 2 on Top

2 on 2 on Top

Randy Sherman 04/23/2015

Objective: Drill for jumping to the ball in deny stance Defending long fast basket cuts Denying out and forcing catches going away from the basket Make sure on the ball defenders follow "rooftop rules" with their stance and angle. Drill Advancements: When the ball is on the wing and the cutter is emptying, have wing player make a baseline drive so defender must sit on midline and help on drive (don't chase cutter without losing sight of the ball) Coach calls "Live!" at any time and the drill becomes 4v2 Live with the two defended players as the cutter and the undefended players as screeners.
