Frank Martin and the South Carolina Gamecocks use this basic motion format at times as part of their "Spread" attack. The Gamecocks usually play with four guards under Martin, although the motion sets itself okay if the 4 is also a big man. This was a nice set run with a twist as the 5 man sets a timed screen-the-screener action on 2 who reading the defense curls into the lane for a short pull-up jumper. France played so well together and got contributions from everyone in their Offense during their Championship run. See More

Today's Play of the Day is a transition option from Fred Hoiberg and the Iowa State Cyclones for a stretch shooting big man. Hoiberg ran this set coming out of transition for his forward Georges Niang, particularly against Kansas and Jef Withey, who was exceptionally poor at defending on the perimeter. This action fits well into Hoiberg's overall motion offense, which is strongly perimeter-based. His general pattern of offense has been dubbed basketball's version of the "Spread Offense". See More

The set is run from a 2-3 set-up and uses good movement and screens to make the defense make decisions.
