Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and embedded video we look at set play out of a Princeton alignment. This is the standard chin and false go, action except we hit the big at the elbow and let them go to work. This pass is open a lot because teams use x5 to help on the cutting and screening action so often. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and embedded video we look at a set play out of a box alignment for an iso driving lane. The set uses a elevator screen to occupy defenders in order to maintain space for an elbow drive. The timing is a little clunky, but a playmaking forward should be able to work with the elbow isolation this set creates. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn today’s diagram and embedded video we look at a set play for a flare screen three-pointer. The play starts out of a box entry and quickly morphs into a blocker-mover pattern. This could be an entry for teams that run blocker-mover, or a set play for teams that don't run blocker-mover. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and embedded video we look at a set play out of a horns alignment. This is a pretty sexy set play with a lot going on. I do think this is more substance than style, and I believe some of the initial options in the set may present opportunities for good shots before the stagger screen. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and embedded video we look at a set play out of a 1-4 high alignment. After the elbow entry, 1 sets the little on big screen for 5 to hard curl. This looks to be a good option as well. If the curl draws too much attention, the shooter is a good option coming off the stagger. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and embedded video we look at a set play out of the horns alignment. This action is simple and effective. It's hard for the defense to chase for that long through three screens. This set naturally leads into a two-person game if the shooter is not open off the hand off. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and video clip we see a set play to try to score a cheap layup with a misdirection clear out. The baseline is cleared out and a hand off is set up. The keeper allows 4 to try to turn the corner for a nice driving lane. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and video clip we see a set play to try to score a cheap layup. Timing is critical in this action, as the elbow passer needs to be able to throw the pass if the hard curl is open. This is a tough action to defend with the defense chasing over the top on the Iverson cut. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and embedded video we look at an end of quarter set play to get a three-point shot for a shooter. Consider this play to end periods taking the final shot, while getting the shot you want for your team. During the 2021 Finals, Mercury Head Coach Sandy Brondello has frequently gone to this Horns set with her Big Three - Skylar Diggins-Smith at the 1, Diana Taurasi at the 3, and Brittney Griner at the 5.
