Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and embedded video we look at a drill for fundamentals and conditioning. The offense is not allowed to shoot, and must possess the ball for 3 minutes total. Every turnover, they run a conditioning penalty. It can be a grueling drill, but teaches maximum ball security. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and embedded video we look at a drill or game structure that is very competetive, and focues mostly on transition situations. This drill is very versatile and can be used for fundamentals and pressing details as well. Our players love this drill, as well as our coaching staff. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn today’s diagram and embedded video we look at a drill to work on getting your players to take longer strides while playing basketball. I believe longer strides allow players to be faster and cover more ground. I think drills like this help unlock a player's athleticism. Check out Euro Stride Finishing Drill as a complement to this one. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and embedded video we look at a drill to work on finishing off of a jump stop. We preach to our players about being on balance and using jump stops, so we want to show them solutions for how to create space and shots off the two foot stop. Favorite Send to FastDrawBLOG & PLAYBOOK - Chino Hills Huskies: The Scheme Behind the Ball Brothers In this embedded video and diagram we look at the transition system of the 35-0, state championship Chino Hills team of 2015-16. The Chino Hills transition offense was the main feature of its system. The Huskies played as fast as anyone I've ever seen at the high school level. Favorite Send to FastDrawBLOG & PLAYBOOK - Chino Hills Huskies: The Scheme Behind the Ball Brothers In this embedded video and diagram we look at the BLOB system of the 35-0, state championship Chino Hills team of 2015-16. If you're looking for tricky sets, this isn't it. Chino Hills kept it very simple, but got a lot of mileage out of these simple concepts. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and video clip we see a delay game strategy to control the clock, shorten the game, and make your opponent overextend. This strategy can be lethal when executed properly. It is dependent on not having a shot clock, but can be used with a shot clock, just without as deep of a threat. Video below. Favorite Send to FastDrawThis diagram and embedded video is a simple set play to screen the back side forward and distract the middle defender in order to lob behind a 2-3 or 3-2 zone. We usually try this once or twice any time we play against zone teams. It works fairly well to steal an easy bucket. The toughest part of executing the action is the timing and accuracy of the pass. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and embedded video we look at a simple ball screen concept. We used this when we had two attacking guards we wanted to keep out front, allowing them to create by using a ball screen or rejecting into the gap. We wanted to keep shooters in the corners as much as possible. For as simple as the cocnept was, it was fairly effective against good competition. We started to add other options to make the offense less predictable with the zip and DHO options. Video clips below. Favorite Send to FastDrawWe used a 5 Out pass and cut offense which set up this play perfectly. When the designated shooter got to the top of the key we double-flared the back side and dribbled at the flare screens. We used a numbering system for our personnel - the point guard was the 1, shooting guard was the 2, etc. So I would call "Special 2" to indicate we were running the flare screens for the shooting guard in our system. Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a breakdown of an offense we call "Flow." Flow is three guard, two forward offense that is a hybrid of a ball screen offense and dribble drive concepts. It has options to attack driving gaps and play pick and roll. I really think the roll and replace concept is hard to guard, and we often found the replacing big wide open at the top of the key. Obviously, playmaking guards are a centerpiece to this concept.
