Basketball Play - Mount St Mary's - Horns Split PNR Lob

Mount St Mary's - Horns Split PNR Lob

Rory Hamilton 03/19/2021

Mount St Mary's ran this Horns split action several times in their game vs. Texas Southern. This play incorporates a nice side split/screening action with the guards and finishes with a side PNR. The side PNR coupled is difficult to defend due to the weaskside down screen taking place at the same time. This type of action is seen a lot in the Princeton offense. Basketball Play - Florida Gators - Pitch Back Spread PNR

Florida Gators - Pitch Back Spread PNR

Rory Hamilton 03/19/2021

This is a play Mike White and the Florida Gators ran numerous times during their first round game vs. Va Tech. The play uses a pitch back and back screen to force the defense to guard two actions before setting up a spread PNR. The play looks to get a lob at the rim or a throwback to the guard on the weak side for a 3pt shot. FastModel's biggest offer of the year for new subscribers! Basketball Play - UConn Huskies WBB - Triangle

UConn Huskies WBB - Triangle

Rory Hamilton 04/01/2022

Initial Set-up: Slots and Wings with 5 at the nail. Play can be run to either side. Play is initiated with a pass to the wing. UCLA screen by the 5 for the 1. After setting the UCLA screen, the 5 pops out for ball reversal. On the 5's catch, it triggers actions on both side of the court. A back screen ball side, and a flare screen on the weakside. The 5 immediately runs a DHO with the 1 and then comes off a ball screen. The 1 should read the PNR along with the 2 and 4 staying spaced and ready to shoot on the weak side. See More

Basketball Play - Wichita State Shockers - Stack Sam Ghost Lob

Wichita State Shockers - Stack Sam Ghost Lob

Rory Hamilton 03/15/2024

Stack Alignment: 3 rubs off 5 to clear out to wing. 5 pops just above elbow to create a catch. 1 sets a fake screen for 3 and slips to the rim to take advantage of the potential switch. 3 spaces up to create space for catch. On 3's catch, 5 sets a ghost screen and sprints to the rim look for the lob from the 3 while 1 receives a pin-in screen from the 4 for potential 3pt shot in the corner. The last option is the throwback option to the 2 whose defender must tag the 5 to take away the lob. The 3 should read the help and make the appropriate pass: lob, 3pt shot, throwback for 3pt. Basketball Play - Alabama Crimson Tide - Zipper Flare Step Up

Alabama Crimson Tide - Zipper Flare Step Up

Rory Hamilton 03/16/2024

Play initiated with a dribble entry and zipper screen for the 2 to catch ball at the top of the key. On 2's catch, 5 sets pindown screen for the 3 while the 1 exits through to the strong side corner. On 3's catch, the 4 sets a flare screen for the 2 for a 3pt FG opportunity. If defense switches, 4 slips to the rim for potential lay-up. If the 2 doesn't have the shot, 4 sets a step-up screen and 2 drives baseline looking for the 4 man lob at the rim or the drift pass in the corner. The 3 follows to the wing as a safety in no options develop. See More

Basketball Play - Michigan State Spartans - 1-4 STS

Michigan State Spartans - 1-4 STS

Rory Hamilton 03/21/2024

1-4 High alignment: Play starts with post player setting screen on the wing defender. The guard curls off the screen and fills to the corner. The post player then pops back for the entry pass. Once the post player catches, the opposite guard cuts high or low off the 5 players elbow screen. The point guard spaces away. The 5 player pops to the top of the key for ball reversal and quickly reverses the basketball to the wing. Screen the screener action for lay-up or shot at the top of the key. If the guard does not shoot the top of the key shot then post re-screens and gets right into roll/replace action. If the high-low is not there then the ball is reversed and then guard and post stagger away for a shooter. This play has been a Tom Izzo staple over the last 15 years. See More

Basketball Play - Floppy GET

Floppy GET

Cody Toppert 09/04/2015

When Floppy is ran as a GET action, this can indicate that the strong side big who set the pin down is the activated on ball screener. Thus the wing receives the ball, the strong side big will then sprint to set the PNR, this can be an SPNR or a Step Up depending on the defense and the coverage. From there the weak side players will space, filling corner, wing and dunker (duck in zone). See More

Basketball Play - Floppy Fist

Floppy Fist

Cody Toppert 09/04/2015

Floppy ran with Fist action indicates that the weak side big will sprint to the PNR. Thus after the small uses the pin down and receives the ball on the wing, the weak side big will be in full sprint to the SPNR. The big that set the pin down will then relocate to weak side dunker or elbow. If he relocates to the elbow and the ball is kicked to the flow away PG, the big can again set an Angle PNR. See More

Basketball Play - Floppy GO

Floppy GO

Cody Toppert 09/04/2015

Floppy GO differs from Floppy GET in that the big who set the primary pin down will then continue to set a block to block screen for the weak side big. The weak side big then sprints to the SPNR, presumably with is defender unattached. The benefits of this are late or non-existent PNR coverage. Thus a good screen in the PNR will allow the wing to get to the middle of the court and cause a mismatch or present an advantage. See More

Basketball Play - Pitch

Pitch

Cody Toppert 09/18/2015

If the 1 kicks the ball up the sideline to the 2 we refer to this as pitch, simply because the 1 has pitched the ball ahead. Depending on when the advance pass takes place and your general preference on principles. The 5 can set a UCLA screen for the 1 who cuts through, the 1 can rub screen the 5 who sprints to the SPNR, the 1 can screen away or the 1 can simply cut through to space out, regardless of what you want 1-5 SPNR ensues and subsequently your second side philosophies kick in on a ball reversal.
