Basketball Play - Auburn Tigers - Cross Swing

Auburn Tigers - Cross Swing

Michael Lynch 03/30/2019

Auburn uses its athleticism to spread teams out and attack double gaps off the dribble. Here they use the DHO and Swing Pass to get the point guard the basketball in space. The wing ball screen and subsequent spacing off the ball create a nice gap for the point guard to attack. See video below. #FastModelMadness See More

Basketball Play - VCU - Tranisiton Swing Blur

VCU - Tranisiton Swing Blur

Michael Lynch 09/26/2018

The blur screen is an effective way to create a double gap in the defense. The pass and cut movement can create a temporary window for the basketball to attack into the heart of the defense. During the Shaka Smart years at Virginia Commenwealth, he used the blur screen as a secondary transition action. Once the ball is swung from slot to slot, the trailer then passes to the wing followed by a cut to ball side corner. This cutting action now opens a temporary double gap for the basketball to attack the elbow. See video below! Further studying: Creating with Blur Screens See More

Basketball Play - Cleveland Cavaliers - Swing Pin 4

Cleveland Cavaliers - Swing Pin 4

Matt Wheeler 05/31/2018

The Cleveland Cavaliers run this play to close out situation for Kevin Love (4) where he has the option to shoot the three or attack the basket. Once the ball is entered to the wing the Cavs reverse the ball to LeBron James (3) so he can make the decision to pass to Love or create for himself. Once the ball is reversed, 5 cuts to the left side of the lane. This puts him in weak-side rebounding position in case Love shoots the three. 2 sets the pindown screen for 4 so if the defenders switch Love will have a smaller defender to shoot over. If the defense doesn't switch the screen, Love can attack the closeout against a post player and get to the basket. NBA Finals Preview: Cleveland Cavaliers See More

Basketball Play - Cleveland Cavaliers - Swing Flare Slip

Cleveland Cavaliers - Swing Flare Slip

Matt Wheeler 05/22/2018

Cleveland ran this ATO play to take advantage of Boston's tactic of switching the flare screen, and got a layup for Jeff Green (4). The play started with LeBron James (3) cutting to the top to receive the pass from 1. This got the ball in the hands of their best passer. 4 sets the flare screen for 2 and slips to the basket. 5 sets a flare screen for 1 on the other side of the floor to occupy the defense. Basketball Play - Swing Cross

Swing Cross

Randy Sherman 05/18/2018

Swing Cross is an option upon the swing or centering pass to the center trailer in Early Offense. On passes to the center trailer the offense executes "dual actions" in this case cutting to opposite corner from the high wing. The ball movement and dual actions move players prior to the pentration moment (spread ball screen).
