Michigan State Spartans - 21 Pin Chin

Diccon Lloyd-Smeath 04/07/2019

ATO set from Michigan State Head Coach Tom Izzo. Play starts with a 21 DHO on the wing and a Pin Down on the weak side. As the ball is reversed, the PG clears the corner and the wing receives a chin screen for the lob. Diagram is for the traditional set up with a SG receiving the DHO, Michigan State ran this with a taller athlete on the end of a lob. Blog Post: Michigan State's Championship Identity See More

Auburn Tigers - DHO Shuffle Swing

Diccon Lloyd-Smeath 04/06/2019

More quality execution from the #1 ranked Half Court offense in the 2019 NCAA Final Four. Play starts with the PG entering a DHO with the shooter on the wing. As the shooter and trailer exchange pass reversals, the PG receives a shuffle screen from the post player and the opposite wing swaps sides. On the 2nd reversal, the trailer completes the reversal and hits the PG on the opposite wing, then slips the pick and pop. As the PG drives the shooters cuts the lane, then leaks out to the corner for 3! See More

Basketball Play - Igor Milicic - Horns Wall Ball

Igor Milicic - Horns Wall Ball

Diccon Lloyd-Smeath 02/12/2019

Very creative set by Anwil Head Coach Igor Milicic. This set worked because Anwil have a shooting 5 and a size advantage at the 1. This set is designed to look like a traditional Horns Side action and is to be used against teams that stunt, trap off the ball or show on the down screen - any coverage that enables the PG to get his defender in his back. See video below for evidence of it working successfully! See More

Basketball Play - Tip Out / Out Of Area Rebounds

Tip Out / Out Of Area Rebounds

Diccon Lloyd-Smeath 11/27/2018

Rebounding drill to work on using a fully extended arm to tip the ball out when a player is boxed out or not in position. The progression is working on reacting to the flight of the ball and extending the players arms to the side as well as up, to corral rebounds that are outside of the player's area. Drill from Ryan Pannone, assitant coach with Hapoel Jerusalem, which leads the Basketball Champions League in rebounding. Read this full feature for more! Slovenia - Weak DHO Spain PNR

Diccon Lloyd-Smeath 08/11/2018

Slovenia Coach Radovan Trifunovic runs this Spain PNR action out of a similar set to Spurs Motion Weak. The play is based around the PG giving the ball up then getting it back after a reversal and a down screen, then running straight from DHo with 4 into Spain PNR. Diccon Lloyd-Smeath 08/10/2018

Misdirection BLOB from Russia Coach Sergey Bazarevich in the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers. Plays starts with 4 screening 3 to open space to receive a safety pass. Instead of receiving the safety, 4 cuts hard towards the inbounder. 2 (shooter) fakes to set a back screen for 4 and creates the misdirection. 2 then curls off a back screen from 5 for an open jump shot. Basketball Play - France - False Drag Pistol

France - False Drag Pistol

Diccon Lloyd-Smeath 08/05/2018

France use a false drag screen in early offense to loosen pressure on the PG, who then enters DHO with 3. 5 times the PNR for pistol action (DHO into PNR). 4 clears to the weak side corner and 3 lifts to the wing. 4 also has the option of flare and hammer screens. Basketball Play - Doornekamp Action STS BLOB

Doornekamp Action STS BLOB

Diccon Lloyd-Smeath 08/04/2018

Nice set using Basketball Immersion's "Doornekamp Action" - a term for fake lifting for the safety pass and then cutting basket cutting, as 4 does in this set. Use a shooter as the back screener and clear the lane by placing 5 in the ball side corner and lifting the wing out of the weak side corner. This set works for all ages and abilities, and should result in an open shot or a switch to attack. More from Diccon: The Evolution of Spain PNR in International Basketball See More
