Basketball Play - San Antonio Spurs WCF Sets

San Antonio Spurs WCF Sets

Kevin Bruinsma 05/31/2013

Here is the best stuff from the San Antonio Spurs in their 4-0 series sweep over the Memphis Grizzlies in the Western Conference Finals. There are quite a few plays as I wanted to be able to give you the Spurs playbook of their most successful actions and offensive sets. To best enjoy and learn from these play diagrams I recommend that you watch the video which is linked below as all of the diagrams are listed in order with the video clips. See More

Basketball Play - Back

Back

John Leonzo 05/19/2013

Here is a box set that gives you a an opportunity to take advantage of a mis-match by going to an ISO for 1 on the weak side attacking off the flat ball screen or to throw back to 3 for a three point shot. This is an effective quick hitter to take advantage of various matchups or to get a quality shot quick in an end of clock situation. See More

Basketball Play - Texas X

Texas X

Jon Pillow 04/28/2013

The 1 will pick a side. The ball side guard will clear to the opposite wing. Ball side post will set a "Texas" screen. The backside guard MUST time his screen right when he screens for the screener. The 1 will come off his screen and drag the defense while looking for the 5 to come clear. If he is open he will throw the lob. If the lob is not open the 1 will reverse the ball to the 2 and cut ball side corner. The 4 will fill the high post looking for the pass from 2. On the pass to the 4 the 5 will look to flip or seal his man. If we cannot get the Hi Lo action then the 4 will reverse the ball to the 3 and set a stagger with the 2 for the 1. We are now into a Hi Lo base motion. See More

Basketball Play - Elbow Flex Special

Elbow Flex Special

Kyle Gilreath 04/22/2013

Sunday afternoon in their game versus the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Playoffs, the LA Lakers ran this Elbow Flex action to get a dunk for Dwight Howard. This elbow set-up into a flex action is very common in the NBA. However, I have rarely (if never) seen the 1 set the backscreen instead of coming off the pin down for a shot or dribble hand-off. Basketball Play - Carolina

Carolina

Rich Czeslawski 06/27/2012

On our "Carolina" secondary break, we want to reverse the ball from 1 to 4 to 3 as quickly as possible, just as we have done in our "Regular" break. 3 still looks to feed the post - 5. However, instead of the 2 coming off the staggered double screen as he does on our "Regular" break, he will come up and set a backpick on 4's man. 5 must post up hard, wanting the ball. 1 must cut up high to the ball side to pull his defender away from help. If 4 is not open for the backpick lob, 3 should look immediately to 2 at the elbow. As 2 catches at the elbow, 4 should screen across the lane for 5, who MUST come underneath 4's screen. 2 looks to 5 on the weak block or back to the screener - 4, who screens and steps to the ball. If 2 is unable to pass the ball to 5 or 4, he can simply pass the ball to 1 and move to the right wing to create floor balance and we can begin our offensive possession from there. See More
