Duke ran this play to free up Winslow going to the rim and once the ball is reversed it turns into a post iso for him. Okafor screws the play up by not moving to the weak side block, but Duke ends up getting a basket on a post move from Winslow. If Okafor would have slid over to the opposite block and ducked his man in, Winslow would have had a lob dunk after the back screen from the point guard. See More

Tied 72-72 with under 20 seconds left to play Pittsburgh ran a stagger action that free’d up #3 Cameron Wright for a wide open mid-range jumper to win the game. #3 Wright missed the shot, but Pitt went on to defeat Horizon League member Oakland in overtime. A small part to this action that I really liked was when the 1 passed the 4 man as he navigated down to the block the 4 showed his hands to the 5 man at the elbow as if he was expecting a pass for a shot. Even if he wasn’t an option in the play his attention to detail caused his man to at least play him as a threat which created a better angle for his pin down screen for the 1 man. See More

Among the many things the Brooklyn Nets did well in their Game 1 victory over the Toronto Raptors was this great quick hitter set dialed up by Coach Jason Kidd in the waning moments of the 2nd quarter. With 1:13 on the clock in the 2nd, the Nets were able to get a wide open lay-up (Option 1) to increase their lead to 5 points. I added in the 3rd Option to create another scoring opportunity. Michigan State ran this Elbow Ball Screen set in their win against Harvard in the NCAA Tournament. The first option of the set is guard Gary Harris coming off down screen. The next option is Denzel Valentine who comes off a backscreen, looking for a pass at the basket. The final option is a ball screen where the 4 (Branden Dawson) sets a high ball screen for Gary Harris. Dawson rolls automatically to the basket but its up to Harris to drag the screen until Dawson is open at the basket. See More

Viriginia ran this quick hitter in the ACC Championship game against Duke on Sunday. Virginia runs this set looking to get one of their guards a backdoor cut at the basket. UVA does a great job in their motion offense staying patient and looking for great shot on each possession. Their patience and hard cuts will leave the defense suseptible to backdoor cuts. See More

This elevator play is designed for a shooter to come off a misdirection cut back up the lane line to where he came from thru an elevator. What makes it so seductive for the shooter is that the elevator wasn't there when he made his original cut, so when he retraces his steps and comes thru the elevator, the defender will be blindsided by it.
