Basketball Play - Northwestern Early Offense

Northwestern Early Offense

Dana Beszczynski 03/18/2017

What makes Chris Collins Offensive schemes at Northwestern are the multiple screening & cutting actions in each series. The sets are designed to get action off the ball keeping the Defense occupied, forcing decisions in rotations which if to late, result in open shots. This set has all those options included and is one of the best sets I've seen thus far in the NCAA Tournament. See More

Basketball Play - Northwestern "Chest"

Northwestern "Chest"

Dana Beszczynski 03/18/2017

Chris Collins has done a tremendous job since his arrival at Northwestern, leading them this year to their 1st ever NCAA Tournament appearance. His Offense has been getting rave reviews this year from everyone who has the chance to watch his Team. This Dribble Weave action sets up to what looks like a double stagger action for Lindsey, but ends up with Lindsey finishing the play on the opposite side of the court with the dribble penetration. Law does a great job coming back off the single screen action when Lindsey cuts backdoor on the baseline. This Northwestern squad is "gritty" and plays with a lot of enthusiasm and effort on both sides of the court! See More

Basketball Play - Arizona - Multiple Ball Screen Action

Arizona - Multiple Ball Screen Action

Dana Beszczynski 03/18/2017

The Arizona Wildcats really do a tremendous job of moving their players around in their half court sets. Here is a multiple ball screen action which given the Defensive positioning can lead to a backdoor cut or open up the direct drive to the ring. If the Defense sags in on the penetration, the Cats have their shooters spotting up behind the arc ready for a kick-out pass. See More

Basketball Play - Arizona Transition PNR Post Action

Arizona Transition PNR Post Action

Dana Beszczynski 03/18/2017

Sean Miller's Arizona Offense is very creative and provides his players with multiple cutting & scoring options. Out of this Transition action alone you have a DHO, Middle Ball Screen, and movement options that force the Defense into multiple rotations. At the end, the ability to have their 4 either step out to hit the jumper or post-up provides a finish to this action which is good for all levels of play. See More

Basketball Play - VCU - BLOB "Buck 5"

VCU - BLOB "Buck 5"

Aseem Rastogi 03/17/2017

With 9 minutes left in the second half of their game with St. Mary's, VCU Coach Will Wade called "Buck 5" for a BLOB to score. This BLOB starts with a 4 low formation, but quickly morphs into flex offense with an option to hit the 5 man coming off a cross screen from the 1, and a downscreen for the 1 to score on an iso from the wing (what happened in this instance). Basketball Play - St. Mary's - SLOB Horns Rub

St. Mary's - SLOB Horns Rub

Aseem Rastogi 03/17/2017

With 13:22 left in the second half, St. Mary's ran this SLOB into Horns action for a layup. They had their best three point shooter on the ball side to eliminate help, leading to a 1 on 1 footrace between the point guard and his screened defender. 5 is their best player, and he uses his body to shield 1's defender from the ball on the laker cut. Basketball Play - St. Mary's - Rip PNR

St. Mary's - Rip PNR

Aseem Rastogi 03/17/2017

With 3:45 left in the first half, St. Mary's ran this after a quick VCU score. The first look is a quick Rip screen from the 1 for the 4, but the second look is a pick and roll with the 1 and 5 in the middle of the floor. Instead of the wing player lifting, the 4 lifts to replace the rim-running 5, giving a hi-lo between the 4 and 5 and a wide open dunk for St. Mary's best player. See More

Basketball Play - Toronto Raptors - Weak Rub

Toronto Raptors - Weak Rub

Ryan Nguyen 03/12/2017

This is a wrinkle out of "Motion Weak" made popular by the San Antonio Spurs that the Toronto Raptors run. Instead of the ball-handler receiving the ball back on the opposite after the ball reversal like in "Motion Weak," the weak-side wing receives the ball on the wing to initiate the offense. See More
