Here are 3 stagger options from the Clippers. In option 1, 1 cuts off of a staggered screen and gets a hand-off from 5 on the wing. If 1 doesn't have a scoring option, 1 passes to 2 on the wing letting 2 look to penetrate and kick. In option 2, 1 uses the staggered screen and the bottom screener runs to the weak side off of a down-screen from 4. 5 dribbles across the floor looking to pass instead of the hand-off to the point guard. In option 3, 1 comes off of the staggered screen as tight as possible looking to get the hand-off from 5 inside the 3-point line. See More

In this option, the Clippers get the defense moving in opposite directions to get an open shot in the short corner. The point guard passes to 5 at the high post and cuts straight to the rim. As 5 dribbles to the left, 4 cuts to the right off of a staggered cross-screen from 1 and 2. 5 gives the ball to 3 on a dribble hand-off, and 3 looks to pass to 4 for a shot. Here is a lob option used by Rick Pitino and his Louisville Cardinals. The play uses a lot of side-to-side action getting the defense to chase cutters around the floor. The play starts with all 5 players above the free-throw line. The point guard passes to 4 then cuts to the basket off of a back-screen from 5. If the quick lob isn't there, 2 cuts across the floor weaving between screens from 5 and 4. Once 2 gets the ball, he gets a staggered ball-screen from the bigs. NC State used this play early in the 1st half to get an open shot for Trevor Lacey. The play starts with an entry pass to the wing and a UCLA cut from 1 to the low post. Once 3 (Lacey) gets the ball at the top of the key, he has the option to pass to 1 for a shot or to pass to 4 flashing to the pinch post.
