Basketball Play - Orlando Magic - Iverson Cross Iso

Orlando Magic - Iverson Cross Iso

Matt Wheeler 11/14/2016

The Orlando Magic ran this isolation play with the score tied and 10 seconds left in their game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. 2 makes an Iverson cut across the screens from 4 & 5. This cut is a decoy designed to draw attention from the defense. It is very effective when this is done with one of your primary scorers. 5 then screens for 4, resulting in an isolation where 4 can go 1 on 1 attacking the basket with his dominant hand. In this play x5 had to make a switch onto 4 which can also cause mismatch situations. See More

Basketball Play - Serbia - Secondary Post Up

Serbia - Secondary Post Up

Wes Kosel 06/06/2016

Serbia likes to run the point guard up the sidelines and to get a quick post they used this spacing pattern with the point guard and center on one side of the floor and 4, 3, and 2 all on the right side of the floor (and spaced on the 3-point line). The spacing makes it hard for the defenders to help in the post and if all of your players are capable 3-point shooters this can be an easy way to get a 1 on 1 look in the post. See More

Basketball Play - Boston Celtics "Punch Rip Turn"

Boston Celtics "Punch Rip Turn"

Gibson Pyper 02/26/2016

When the Celtics need a quick score for 2 they run backscreen out of a post up from a guard. Since the Celtics have versatility Stevens typically runs Evan Turner off a screen into the post, and the big then sets a backscreen for a guard at the top of the key. This option will not be there every time, so the big then continues and turns to set a pindown screen for the guard in the corner to look to get a jump shot off a curl cut. If all of these options are covered, he lets the player in the post go 1 on 1 and try to get a score. See More

Basketball Play - Spanish Rebounding Drill

Spanish Rebounding Drill

Fabian McKenzie 09/03/2015

This is a good rebounding drill that works on technique but also gets competitive and emphasizes effort on the glass. You can load this drill in many different ways. You can put points in the drill. 1 point for defensive rebound and 2 points for an offensive rebound. Have one team play for 2-3 minutes on defense then switch and keep track of points You can also have the rebounders play live. If offense gets it they play at that rim, if defense gets it they can play full court 1 on 1 See More

Basketball Play - Iverson Cut - 4 Iso

Iverson Cut - 4 Iso

Kevin Bruinsma 07/03/2015

This is a play we ran at Illinois State to get an isolation look for our under sized 4 man against their bigger & slower 4 man. It ended up working out so he could just curl the screen to the rim for a lay-up but the play was originally designed for him to pop to the open side of the floor and play 1 on 1. The great thing about this action is there are so many things you can do out of the base iverson cut. See More

Basketball Play - UK Iso Blob

UK Iso Blob

Kevin Bruinsma 05/21/2015

Although a very basic play it accomplished exactly what UK was hoping for, 1 on 1 with the ball 15 feet from the rim in their best dribble drive player’s hands. In the video included you will see that #1 Booker took the ball out and didn’t run the play correctly. You can tell he screwed the play up because #5 Harrison in the corner of the court is pointing and yelling at him to run off the double screen being set by the 4 & 5. Booker entered the ball to #2 Harrison who popped back to catch the ball at the elbow. With a shooter in the ball side corner, and the in-bounder running off a double screen set by the two bigs it eliminates help side defense so that Harrison now can play 1 on 1 from 15 feet away from the basket. Basketball Play - L.A. Clippers 4 Pop

L.A. Clippers 4 Pop

Craig LeVasseur 04/16/2015

Another set out of the Mike D’Antoni playbook, 4 Pop is designed for a shooting 4. While Blake Griffin has improved his midrange jumper each year, the main advantage of this set is putting Blake 1 on 1 against his usually slower defender at the top of the key. His driving ability makes this play an ideal Slice counter for the Clippers, and an option that the Celtics likely would not have been able to utilize with KG. A clear side P/R with Blake and CP3 is also a great 2nd option to have. See More

Basketball Play - Duke - Allen Middle Drive

Duke - Allen Middle Drive

Wes Kosel 04/08/2015

Duke went to this play multiple times in the game. Although simple, the play utilizes the strength of Allen's penetration skills. Allen gets the ball on the left wing and drives from left to right to the rim for a lay-up. Wisconsin did not collapse on the penetration allowing Allen to make the 1 on 1 play at the basket.
