UT-Martin 4 Low
03/26/2015Tennessee-Martin 4 Low. UTM coach Heath Schroyer drew this BLOB set up for the game winner against Eastern Kentucky to send the Skyhawks to the Final Four of the CIT. The Skyhawks had the ball with 6.3 seconds left down 2. Marshun Newell (2) sets to inbound the basketball. The set begins with the first option which is a triple stagger for a guard coming from the opposite corner to the ball side corner. After he was covered he cleared toward half court. Chandler Rowe (5) is the final screener. He opens up to catch the entry pass just inside the 3 pt. line. After the catch Newell sprints in to take the DHO and hits the game winning 3 from the corner. Cincinnati Elevator to Stagger Play
03/24/2015Cincinnati ran this play in the second round of the NCAA tournament against Purdue. It should be emphasized how open 1 will get off of 5's back screen, if 1 cuts hard and 5 looks for him - if players do a poor job setting up this action, it will make it that much harder to effectively get open off the elevator screen (defender will top-lock elevator cut). It is vitally important that after 4 helps set stagger screen with 5, that he seals aggressively... If 4 does a good job sealing, he will at the very least get a high-low catch from 5. See More

Albany Floppy Triple
03/24/2015After the 16-minute media timeout in the 2nd half, Albany was down 8, while coming up empty on the previous three possessions. They forced Oklahoma into a tough outside shot and after getting the defensive rebound; Coach Brown called a Floppy Triple set. As you can tell in the video, the play was designed to get Peter Hooley (#12) a shot. The defense was prepared to take away Hooley in the play, which left Ray Sanders (#1) wide-open coming off the screen. This is a great play to run in an After Time Out situation. You can give your two best shooters looks coming off screens. See More

Wisconsin Stagger
03/21/2015Wisconsin used this set in the 1st half of their win over Coastal Carolina in Round 2 action. The Badgers ran this UCLA style offense multiple times throughout the night using different screens and 2 man game options. In this particular set the play is designed to get a shooter coming off of a stagger screen. Although the play was successful, the Badgers were unable to convert on the open jump shot. See More

03/21/2015Iowa ran this BLOB set for a wide open 3 in their Round 2 rout of Davidson. This simple but effective set clears out the ball side of the floor allowing the stagger screen to do its job without being impeded by help side defenders. Seems too simple to work but the Hawkeyes got a wide open 3 and knocked it down to extended their lead on Davidson. See More

Coastal Carolina Double Stagger

The Chanticleers used this action multiple times adding a few different wrinkles with ball screens along the way. Gonzaga Double Follow PNR
03/21/2015Gonzaga runs this set for a HI PNR for their shooting guard. I like this set and it works because it keeps the defense moving, and has a stretch 4 spread the floor after freezing his man. Kevin Pangos being an elite 3 point threat is on the wing to prevent any weakside help, and having 3 shooters spacing the floor allows the PNR to be effective. See More

Sooner BLOB 4 Low DHO Stagger
03/21/2015Lon Kruger called this play in the second half against Albany. In this BLOB, the Sooners are trying to get an open shot on the perimeter for Buddy Hield. Hield starts out at the block in front of the ball. The play starts with a cross-screen by Hield for 4. 4 gets the ball at the elbow and gives the ball to the inbounder on a dribble hand-off. Once the point guard has the ball back, he sets up a misdirection by dribbling left as Hield cuts off of a staggered screen out to the right wing. 1 passes to Hield for a 3-point shot. See More

Oregon Flex Stagger
03/20/2015Here is a flex option used by Oregon in the first half against Oklahoma State. The Cowboys defended the action well, but it looks like a good set-up for future plays from the Ducks. The play starts in regular flex with a flex-screen and down-screen. Instead of continuous flex, 2 and 4 set a staggered screen for 3 on the weak side and 1 clears out to the corner. This play gives 5 the opportunity to take his man to the basket 1 on 1 or pass to 3 for a 3-point shot. See More
