Basketball Play - OU

OU

Rory Hamilton 07/18/2017

Here is an excellent sideline out of bounds I've seen coach Sherri Coale run over the years. I've added a few of my own wrinkles to it but its a great play with multiple options. Initial set up is a your best shooter at the FT line and best finishing guard around the slot area. Both post players are positioned on the blocks. 3 player times cut and waits for 5 to flash for basketball similar to the blind pig action in the flex offense. The point guard passes to the post player flashing to the elbow and the post immediately looks to hit the 3 man on a backdoor (vs. aggressive defense). If the backdoor is not available, the point guard receives a dribble handoff (DHO) from the post player. After receiving the DHO, the point guard stretches the play out while the 4 man flashes to the block for a potential post pass. The 5 man will then receive a back screen from the shooter for a potential lob pass. 2 shapes up after backscreen and looks for a shot or immediately looks to dribble over and post the mismatch. If the guard cannot get the ball to the post player due to being fronted, then the weakside big flashes to catch and immediately throw a high-low pass into the post. See More

Basketball Play - Boston Celtics - Swing STS

Boston Celtics - Swing STS

Ryan Nguyen 07/07/2017

This is a counter out of the Boston Celtics "Swing" series that they've been running at the 2017 NBA Summer League. 3 is overplayed on the wing and denied a pass, so he back-cuts to the basket. 3 sets a cross screen for 4 then immediately receives a down-screen from 5. 3 comes off of the down-screen looking for a pass from 2 for a shot at the top of the key or drive to the basket. Basketball Play - Boston Celtics - Swing Punch Rip

Boston Celtics - Swing Punch Rip

Ryan Nguyen 07/07/2017

This is a counter out of the Boston Celtics "Swing" series that they've been running at the 2017 NBA Summer League. Rather than 2 passing to 4 and receiving a back-screen from 5 for a shuffle screen, 2 dribbles at 4 and 4 back-cuts to the basket for a post-up. After 4 receives the ball on the block, 5 sets a back-screen for 2. 2 cuts to the basket looking for a drop pass from 4 for a layup. See More

Basketball Play - Dallas Mavericks - EOG SLOB X Handoff

Dallas Mavericks - EOG SLOB X Handoff

Matt Wheeler 07/06/2017

The Dallas Mavericks used the SLOB play with the score tied and 6.7 seconds left in the 2017 Orlando NBA Summer League championship game against the Detroit Pistons. The Mavericks only needed a 2 and were looking for an opportunity to attack the basket for a layup, foul, or create an open shot. 1 occupied his defender by staying in the backcourt, creating more space for 4 to attack off the handoff. 4 drove to the basket and created a shot for 5 for the game winning shot. Basketball Play - 21/Pistol Flex Entry

21/Pistol Flex Entry

Dave Nedbalek 07/05/2017

This is a disguised entry into 21. Defense is about positioning so getting any defense out of the position they are familar guarding an action out of automatically begins putting them to the test. This is only the entry into the 21 offense. If you have not seen that yet I recommend checking out my diagram of it here I will be uploading a couple wrinkles from this because I think the misdirection to isolatin for the 5 man is reallly stinking good here with everyone perimeter weakside it really gives you some freedowm to exploit here. I will upload a version of how to get any position on your floor seamlessly into the post position for this action as a set but this itself is simply the Flex entry into 21. See More

Basketball Play - Pistol - 21 Offense Breakdown

Pistol - 21 Offense Breakdown

Dave Nedbalek 07/05/2017

The Pistol offense is one of my favorite offenses right now. With the different reads and options you can make out of the initial pass it is really hard to comfortable defending. Point of emphasis would be to really make sure your wings and point guard give themselves enough room to operate sideline side to not warrant and immediate trap (although I have found that is one of the better ways to defend the initial action, so plan accordingly, tweet me @DaveNedbalekUTT and we can discuss) Please share any wrinkles counters you see, or have run. I will include some decoy entries in a later post, as well as a video breakdown. Teams running this right now: -LA Clippers -Golden State Warriors -Houston Rockets See More
