About This Play/Drill

This is a disguised entry into 21. Defense is about positioning so getting any defense out of the position they are familar guarding an action out of automatically begins putting them to the test.

This is only the entry into the 21 offense. If you have not seen that yet I recommend checking out my diagram of it here

You can also run this action from the 1-4 High 21 Entry to combine two wrinkles to throw at the defense.

First things first. We want easy shots as a result of offense. Off any box, or floppy, for my coding I call this action "Exits", always look to hit a wing and feed the ball into a post who has sealed. Only run offense if you must. Score easy baskets, or get fouled.

2 and 3 must be patient. These cuts are not about speed but about reading the defense. They can cross, they can touch and go back out the same side, one could screen the other and then exit. You must teach them to read how the defense plays them.

-If they are trailed (lock and trail defense) = tight curl
-If they go opposite side of the screen = bump and fade - put your defender in line with your screener and fade away for 2/3 depending on situation/range
-If they cheat the screen (aren't between you and the basket) = go backdoor (post must adjust to this, he could back screen or "rip" screen or simply flash up to the elbow to open the backdoor pass

Once the point guard picks a wing he follows to initiate either chase, or keep, or if he isnt able to enter, then dribble or down action. Strong side post flashes top of the key, weakside flashes weakside wing for the pindown action to come
