Favorite Send to FastDrawHow can you create (or recreate) drills that maximize the skills you are emphasizing to your team, while also integrating shots at the basket? For example, if you are running a drill that focuses on players attacking the basket from the wing and finishing at the hoop, you want to create a drill that gets your players as many reps as possible during that drill See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this 1-4 high option, the Kentucky Wildcats enter the play with a pass to 4 at the high post. Once 4 has the ball, the point guard cuts through the lane to the opposite block. 5 rubs off of 1's cut looking to get a hi/lo pass from 4. If that option isn't open, the ball is reversed to 1 on the left wing. With the lane open, 5 sets a back-screen for 4 who cuts to the basket. If that's not open, 3 screen for 5 who looks to get a shot at the elbow. If Kentucky still doesn't have a shot, 5 will dribbles towards the right wing looking to pass to 3 flaring to the right wing. Once 3 has the ball 5 cuts off of a screen from 2 for the give and go action. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this play from Kentucky, 1 initiates with a dribble entry to the right wing. 2 moves into the lane to set a cross-screen for 3. The first option to score is to pass to 3 posting up. This play works well if you have a long wing with the ability to post up. If the post up is not open, 5 and 4 set a double-screen for 2. 2 cuts to the top of the key for a shot. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is a 1-4 high zipper ball-screen play from Kentucky. The play begins with a dribble entry to the right wing pushing the ball-side guard down to the block to make a zipper cut off of 4. Once 2 has the ball, 5 sets a ball-screen. 2 attacks from right to left as 5 rolls to the basket and 4 replaces 5. 2 also has the option to pass to 3 in the corner if 3's defender helps on dribble penetration. Favorite Send to FastDrawGonzaga ran this set against Duke to utilize high-low/post players. They were successful in picking and popping and driving to the rim. It's important for timing that as soon as 4 sets first screen must sprint into high ball screen. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawHere are two hi/lo options out of the horns set from Miami. Miami is playing well in the NIT with a chance to advance to the finals with a win over Temple. In these options, the Hurricanes use a horns staggered screen with the point guard dribbling from left to right. In the first option, 4 rolls and 5 sets a pin down for 3 in the corner. Once 3 gets the ball he looks to pass inside to 5 or to 4 flashing high post for a hi/lo look. In the second option, 4 sets a flare-screen for 5 before cutting to the block. If 5 isn't open on the screen, he sets a screen for 3 who gets the ball at the top of the key. 3 again looks at 5 or to 4 flashing high. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawMichigan State often attacks the zone with high ball screens... The screener short rolls, if the roller does not get the ball early-he must seal the high post area. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis has become a common Zone Set designed to get a good look against a 2-3 Zone. This has been run by Michigan State, Arizona, Kansas, Iowa State, Louisville and NC State. The key is attacking the center in the middle to open up the baseline. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is a quicker hitter against a 2-3 zone... Specifically a 2-3 Match-up zone that Louisville ran against Michigan State in the East Regional Final. Michigan State passes to the wing to the start the play (ultimately shifting the defense before screening the zone). See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is a lob option used by Rick Pitino and his Louisville Cardinals. The play uses a lot of side-to-side action getting the defense to chase cutters around the floor. The play starts with all 5 players above the free-throw line. The point guard passes to 4 then cuts to the basket off of a back-screen from 5. If the quick lob isn't there, 2 cuts across the floor weaving between screens from 5 and 4. Once 2 gets the ball, he gets a staggered ball-screen from the bigs. Multiple scoring options in this play make it difficult for teams to guard. See More
