Favorite Send to FastDrawArizona runs this half court zone play with just under 12 minutes left in the second half against Xavier. Key detail: 4 must seal X5 at the elbow to create passing lane for 1. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawKentucky ran a nice counter out of a normal set they have ran all year. Typically they set a high Pick & Roll and the two men on the baseline screen off each other and read the defense. Kentucky ran a counter for a lob and instead of setting the PNR the big man steps up and cuts backdoor off a backscreen. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawArizona ran this set with minutes remaining in the first half of the sweet sixteen against Xavier. Xavier played 1-3-1 half court zone for the better part of the 1st half. A very effective zone play-they look to duck-in or seal the bottom of the zone, while screening the back-side of the zone for a shooter. Later in the game, Arizona started setting a flat screen instead of a regular high ball screen. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawXavier runs a nice Horns Set with weakside action to occupy the defense to get a Wing PNR setup. The look to the flare action is key, and then turning to execute a DHO and Pick & Roll. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawInspired by the Spurs, the NCAA has been full of late game "Hammer/Baseline Drift" sets to try and get a look for a 3. Here is Virginia's late game Hammer set to get a 3 late against Michigan State. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawSimilar to a set play we saw from SMU in the round of 64, North Carolina ran this look against Wisconsin in the Sweet 16. The first look is for the 5 man over the top for a lob. If the lob isn't there, 5 seals for a post up. A weakside stagger occupies any help for the post defender. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawAnother excellent play from the Wichita State playbook, this coming late in the 2nd half against Notre Dame. It's a double high ballscreen, with 5 setting first and a shooting 3 setting the second screen. In defending this play, because x3 stays attached to his man, x5 has to stop penetration and x2 has to pull in to bump 5 on the roll. This leaves the 2 open in the corner for a throwback 3, which was no problem for a talented PG like VanVleet to find. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawWichita State ran this set around the 10:00 mark of the first half in their NCAA matchup against Notre Dame, resulting in a 3pt basket. This play features multiple scoring options, with a backscreen lob option for 1, a ballscreen for the 2, and a stagger screen for the 3, not to mention opportunities for the bigs to slip on any screen. Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is a little slip action that can be used as part of your secondary break or as an option in your motion offense. It can serve as a counter action if your set a lot of wing ball screens with the first post that arrives. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is a nice 1-4 Low set that gives your the inital option to have your point or lead guard take his man off the bounce. As that is playing out the other players create some movement to have defense looking to defend cutters. You can get a nice Hi-Lo out of your post game or catch and shoot option for your wings. Favorite Send to FastDrawTennessee-Martin 4 Low. UTM coach Heath Schroyer drew this BLOB set up for the game winner against Eastern Kentucky to send the Skyhawks to the Final Four of the CIT. The Skyhawks had the ball with 6.3 seconds left down 2. Marshun Newell (2) sets to inbound the basketball. The set begins with the first option which is a triple stagger for a guard coming from the opposite corner to the ball side corner. After he was covered he cleared toward half court. Chandler Rowe (5) is the final screener. He opens up to catch the entry pass just inside the 3 pt. line. After the catch Newell sprints in to take the DHO and hits the game winning 3 from the corner. Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is a zone lob play used by head coach Jeff Culver at UCCS (University of Colorado-Colorado Springs). The UCCS Mountain Lions had an incredible season going 27-6 and winning the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament Championship over Metro State. This play was used to get Derrick White (25.8 ppg) a dunk against a 2-3 zone defense. The play starts with the ball moving to the wing and back to the point guard. With White on the wing, a back-screen is set as he sneaks in behind the defense for a lob and a dunk. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawSome early offense that could easily be implemented at the high school level, especially if you have an kid who rebounds and slashes well. The first option of course would be to let that player have one side of the court to attack early and often. See More
