Play of the Day 10-05-2011: Stagger Handoff

Michael Bowden 10/05/2011

As you have probably noticed in the past few months, we are extremely proud of our NBA and NCAA clients. So proud, in fact, that we take every opportunity to brag about their successes on our website. Last week's "Play of the Day" from Mike Bowden and the University of Maryland Women's Basketball coaching staff was such a huge success, that we have asked them to open their FastDraw playbook to us on a weekly basis, and they have agreed to do so. Maryland Head Coach, Brenda Frese, works hard to foster an environment that is centered around "Family". It is one of the pillars that they have built their program around. Everyone involved in the program benefits greatly from that family atmosphere, and it shows in their interactions both on and off the court. The video to the right showcases the kind of bonding that is built at team events. Coach Frese and her staff believe that this tight bond enhances the team's ability to handle adversity and translates to success on the court, which is evidenced by Maryland's 221-81 (.732) record during Coach Frese's 10 years at Maryland. Today's FastDraw Play of the Day uses great spacing and multiple screens to free up scorers in the middle of the floor to either catch and score, or set up a teammate for a shot. See More

Play of the Day 09-28-2011: Floppy Iso Flex

One of the great perks of working here at Fast Model is that we get to speak on a regular basis with the best and brightest coaching minds in the NBA and NCAA. Today, we asked our good friend, Mike Bowden, from the University of Maryland Women's Basketball coaching staff, for a play directly from their FastDraw playbook. The Maryland women's program is one of the most accomplished programs in the country, and Head Coach, Brenda Frese, has built a program based on "More than just Basketball". The Maryland Women hold Family, Academics, Community, Travel, and the commitment to become Champions in everything they do, as sacred ideas that factor into their success both on and off the court. Just a few of the on-court successes they have achieved recently include: 2006 National Championship 4 Final Four Appearances 11 Elite Eight Appearances 12 Sweet Sixteens 9 ACC Championships (ACC Record) 23 National Tournament Appearances Today's FastDraw Play of the Day uses several actions to isolate your star player, and gives that player freedom to create a 1-on-1 shot, or find a teammate open for a shot based on their movement away from the ball.
