About This Play/Drill

In today's "Play of the Day," we look inside the Maryland FastDraw drill book to share a 4-on-4 Transition Drill they use to emphasize communication and rotations in their defensive transition.

  • Basketball Play - Play of the Day 11-02-2011: 4 on 4 Transition (D-O)
  • 4 Offensive Players line up on the baseline

  • 4 Defensive Players line up foul line exteneded (matched up with an Offensive player)

  • Coach with the ball throws the ball at an Offensive player.

  • Whichever Offensive player receives the pass, the Defensive player has to touch baseline, then sprint to get back into the play.

  • The other 3 Defensive Players need to communicate, and delay the offense until their 4th player returns.
