Basketball Play - South Carolina (W) - Horns 53 High Low

South Carolina (W) - Horns 53 High Low

Aseem Rastogi 04/01/2017

With 5:57 left in their Final Four matchup with Stanford, Coach Dawn Staley called this Horns set to get a quick high low for their 3 player who was being guarded by a smaller defender. South Carolina loves to run their high low action with A'Ja Wilson and Alaina Coates, but with Coates nursing an injury, they had to turn to an unconventional high low action to keep it rolling. Basketball Play - Doubling the Post - Part 2

Doubling the Post - Part 2

Mo Dakhil 03/28/2017

Rotations are extremely difficult to nail down and teams must drill constantly to make sure there is an understanding of who is rotating. The other factor that makes these rotations work is constant communication. The best defenses are constantly talking and communicating with each other. Another note when practicing the rotations, it is important to have all players practice every position in the rotation. It helps them learn what their teammates are doing but situations may occur where they will be in position. See More

Basketball Play - San Antonio Spurs - "Elbow 1"

San Antonio Spurs - "Elbow 1"

Doug Brotherton 03/28/2017

The San Antonio Spurs beat the defending NBA Champion, Cleveland Cavaliers, by 29 points. There was a lot working. This set was my favorite, as it has multiple scoring options. The Spurs stack two players weakside, to make it look like Kawhi Leonard (3) will come off of a weakside down screen. Instead, he sets a baseline cross screen, in a great screen-the-screener action. Basketball Play - Cleveland Cavs - Zipper Pin DHO

Cleveland Cavs - Zipper Pin DHO

Doug Brotherton 03/28/2017

In a game against the San Antonio Spurs, the Cleveland Cavaliers ran this box set. It resulted in a layup for Kyrie Irving. It was one of the few things that went well for the Cavs on this night, as the Spurs cruised to an easy victory. This set allows Kyrie to get down hill, but what makes the set so effective is the positioning of the Cavs personnel. Don't be surprised to see this, in a key moment, in this year's NBA playoffs.
