In this diagram and embedded video we look one of my favorite defensive drills. I don't see this concept being taught much. The drill is to teach defenders to stay between the ball and the rim in high conflict situations, and force the offense take the toughest shot possible without fouling. Your players can get very good at this skill if it is emphasized enough.

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a drill to work on post sealing and footwork. This drill uses guided defense to work on our single pivots series. These pivots are simple and effective once mastered.

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a warmup drill that works on dribble moves and outlet passes. We primarily used the drill to work on outlet passes, as we wanted all players to be able to rebound the ball and advance it up the sideline on a longer pass in our transition offense attack.

In this diagram and embedded video we look at drill for guards and wings to work on their scoring moves. The simple diamond formation of the cones allows the players to work on an attack move, a counter move, and a finishing move. The coach defines the sequence, and the players execute as efficiently as possible, or you can let the players freestyle their owns sequences.

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a drill for post players. This drill is specifically for helping with balance around the basket. The video exaplins the drill in more detail, but I liked this drill as a non-contact skill development drill for bigs.

In today’s diagram and embedded video we look at a drill to work on getting your players to take longer strides while playing basketball. I believe longer strides allow players to be faster and cover more ground. I think drills like this help unlock a player's athleticism. Check out Euro Stride Finishing Drill as a complement to this one.

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a post play drill. This drill really works on sealing for position inside before catching the ball, and then provides some repetitions finishing inside against live defense. The drill can become a nice conditioning drill if a player is to get stuck in the pit for a while.

In this diagram and embedded video we go through a series of drills we used with our post players during our guard/post breakdown portion of practice. We believed that using these basic drills on a regular basis would improve the footwork and touch of our interior players. We used medicine balls instead of basketballs while we filmed this, but that was not a regular occurrence.

In this diagram and embedded video we get a drill we used during our positional breakdown portion of practice for our post players. It teaches rebounding, offense and defense in some capacity, and challenges player’s endurance. I really like how it teaches players how to create shots inside with limited space.
