Favorite Send to FastDrawTuesday night in their nail biting loss to South Florida, Florida Gulf Coast ran this half-court set for a post hi-low isolation. After spending many years at Kansas under Bill Self, it is no surprise that FGCU coach Joe Dooley frequents hi-low actions. If 3 can set a solid screen the goal is for 5 to try and catch in the middle of the paint for a quick score. However, if X5 fights over top of the screen of X3 and X5 switch, 5 is to seal his man on the top side for a lob pass over the top for a finish. See More
Favorite Send to FastDraw"Get" is a dribble handoff counter used in secondary break offense that can be run to set up post feeds on both sides of the floor. The end result is a three around two formation that can be used to get you into your offense. Favorite Send to FastDrawThis quick-hitting play can be run to get a quick three-point shot or to get into a four around one offense. For more, check out my website www.coachpeelbasketball.com, sign up for a membership, and get your first 30 days free. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a variation of a secondary break play that was run by Mike D'Antoni when he was the head coach of the Phoenix Suns. For more, check out my website www.coachpeelbasketball.com, sign up for a membership, and get your first 30 days free. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a set play we used with success in our first season. It has multiple scoring options and a lot of movement. If the timing is good, the defense has to make split second decisions which can lead to easy points either on the paint or on the perimeter. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawFrank Martin and the South Carolina Gamecocks use this basic motion format at times as part of their "Spread" attack. The Gamecocks usually play with four guards under Martin, although the motion sets itself okay if the 4 is also a big man. The idea of the offense isn't to penetrate the defense through dribbling, but through getting an overload on one side in order to clear the opposite for a two-man game. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a simple secondary break play with multiple options that can be run to get into a three-around-two set. For more, check out my website www.coachpeelbasketball.com, sign up for a membership and get your first 30 days free. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawBob McKillop and the Davidson Men's Basketball Team run this as one option in their 4-out motion offense as a quick option out of transition. This play has the featured action of a downscreen for the big man, whom McKillop has featured frequently as a good shooter over the past few seasons. If there is a stretch shooting big man on your team, this is a nice set to get him coming off a downscreen. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawGood half court offense. It makes since to use it if you need to get easy points without stopping the game. The point for the screener (on flare screen) is to roll to the basket as quick as possible. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawGood set, with a lot of movements. it's a great opportunity for open shot your SG with options for lob pass 4 after back screen. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is adapted from a play Gregg Marshall runs at Wichita State. This action will get your 4 a couple different opportunities to catch in the paint. It's important to emphasize the reverse pivot from the post player (4) to seal his defender under the rim. Timing is critical to avoid a 3-second violation. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawMonty Williams uses this play to get Ryan Anderson, a stretch 4, a three point opportunity coming off an elevator screen. They fake posting Anderson on the block and then dart him up through an elevator/ off a double screen to hit the open trey. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawOn the last day of the Orlando NBA Summer League, the Detroit Pistons ran this simple continuity horns action for multiple pick & rolls. Popping your bigs and having them pass and sprint into continuous pick & rolls is not only hard to guard, but will help them if they play at the next level. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawAn action being used a lot by NBA teams was utilized in the NBA Finals by both the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs. Here in this diagram you can see that on the #9 Tony Parker and #21 Tim Duncan pick n' roll #4 Danny Green sprints from the weakside corner underneath the hoop to the strong side of the floor. His man was sinking in to help on the rolling post and lost track of his man. See More
