Basketball Play - Scissors (double stack low)

Scissors (double stack low)

null null 08/06/2013

This is a common play in our area of Northwest Ohio that I'm sure is used in college and pro's. This play is great because it is designed to for a high post entry, and a "scissor" cut with 2 guards. You can get good looks for 3's off the scissor cut and double screen. This play also offers a chance to enter to the post player with a double screen and post entry, or the big can fake handoff to both players, and have a high post isolation. See More

Basketball Play - Stacks High

Stacks High

John Leonzo 07/12/2013

Here is a set play that starts out with high stacks and morphs into a 1-4 set. This is a great set because it gets the ball swinging from side to side, has action going both towards and away from the basket, as well as a ball screen. You can also adapt this play so that 2 and 4 play pick and pop after the ball screen or you can pop 1 out for a 3pt chance off a stagger screen from 4 and 5 after 4 ball screens 2. See More

Basketball Play - Stack 1, Stack 2 and Stack 3

Stack 1, Stack 2 and Stack 3

Randall Edens 07/09/2013

Today's Focus: Baseline Out of Bounds Sets that help with Set Up on the floor, communicating with hand signals the 'Call' itself and being effective at the same time with the design. Simple? Yes...but effective when done correctly. Typically, we will go with a different core of 3-5, similar set up, each season. We have specials too, but these here will be our staples pending the season. These are typical sets we run over the summer too as they are EASY to remember. Frame 1 + 2 = Stack 1, Frame 3 + 4 = Stack 2 and Frame 5 + 6 = Stack 3 Soon... a BOX Series, a Shapes Series and a Letter Series of BLOB plays from me. Any questions, please follow me @CoachEdens and shoot me a message and I'd be glad to help. See More

Basketball Play - Point Clear

Point Clear

Randy Brown 05/15/2013

This play is designed to clear the middle of the floor for your point guard or best scorer. Double stacks create a set play look initially. 2 and 3 flatten out to the corners to draw defenders. As dribbler begins penetration, 2 and 3 read their defender. If help is given, 2 and 3 slide up to receive pass. If no help is shown they stay flat. Give it a try! See More

Basketball Play - Post Flex Stagger

Post Flex Stagger

John Leonzo 04/23/2013

Here is a play that is run from a low stack set. This is a great set to run to get you some good looks at the basket before you get into your motion offense. This is a great set because it gets you multiple looks for shots around the basket, as well as an option for a three pointer on the weak side of the floor. See More

If getting the ball to your posts in the paint is part of your game plan, this play will help. It incorporates ball reversal, cutting and screening. This can be run to the left or right side of the floor, depending on which post, 4 or 5, you plan to get open to score. You can use your three man as the scorer also in a mis-match situation. Basketball Play - "Ear Pull" - Kansas High/Low Post Entry - Backscreen Lob

"Ear Pull" - Kansas High/Low Post Entry - Backscreen Lob

Bert DeSalvo 01/26/2013

Kansas ran this entry into offense against Texas at the 17:15 mark of the first half of their game on 1/19/13. Kansas usually runs a similar set with a backdoor, flare screen (for PG), then the posts double down for the opposite wing who point guard replaced off the flare. This "ear pull" was a variation on that set that Bill Self has had so much success with over the years at Kansas. If the lob is not there, this set can easily flow into KU's high/low offense See More

Basketball Play - Terry Stotts' Need 3

Terry Stotts' Need 3

Mark Travis 01/12/2013

Down three with a minute to go with the defending champion Miami Heat in his building, Portland Trail Blazers head coach Terry Stotts designed a brilliant play to get his team a wide open look at a game-tying three. Thanks to his beautifiul design and his players' flawless execution, the Blazers were able to tie the game on that possession and ended up securing a signature win over LeBron and company as a result. Keep an eye on Stotts, by the way, because his team is 5-0 in overtime this season and he has run some very nice stuff. See More
