Basketball Play - Pitch Slice

Pitch Slice

FastModel Sports 04/15/2015

1 pitches the ball ahead and again the 2 looks to reverse the ball to the trailing 4 man. The difference is that after the 1 hits the 2 (or goes DHO with the 2) the 1 fills the strong side corner. The 4 will then reverse the ball to the 3 on the weak side. The 5 then steps to set a screen on the 2 for the slice cut (a great opportunity to post a strong guard). After setting the screen for the 2 and after reversing the ball to the 3, the 5 and 4 then set a double staggered screen for the 1 and wheel action is initiated. As the 1 receives the pass, the 5 and 4 continue to screen the 2 who looks for the shot off the second double staggered. To close the play the 4 cross screens for the 5 and post up action can ensue or an SPNR. See More

Basketball Play - Blue Devil Box PTP

Blue Devil Box PTP

Wes Kosel 04/08/2015

Duke used this play at the beginning of the game against Wisconsin on Monday night. The play starts with Okafor and Winslow at the elbows and Tyus Jones dribbling off of a ball-screen from Winslow to the right wing. Okafor gets a screen at the elbow and cuts to the low post. The first option to score is to pass to Okafor inside. If Okafor isn't open, Matt Jones cuts to the top of the key off of a down-screen from Winslow. Winslow turns to set a ball-screen creating a pick & pop action as Jones drives left. See More

Basketball Play - Duke Zone Over the Top

Duke Zone Over the Top

Wes Kosel 04/03/2015

This play was used eary in the game against Robert Morris and resulted in a foul down low as Okafor went up for a shot off of the hi/lo pass. Coach K does a great job creating an overload that forces Robert Morris to spread out and leave 1 defender on Okafor under the basket. Okafor seals the middle man in the zone and looks for the pass over the top. In the game, x4 could have helped on the lob pass but was stuck anticipating that the ball would be pass to Tyus Jones for a 3-point shot. See More

Duke Okafor ISO (Thumbs Down)

Wes Kosel 04/03/2015

Duke used this play against Gonzaga to open the game and get the ball inside to Okafor. Once Okafor got the ball, two Zags double-teamed leaving Winslow wide open on the wing for a 3-point shot. The play starts with Tyus Jones giving a "thumbs down" signal and a down-screen set for 4 in the corner. 4 curls the screen and sets a cross-screen for Okafor. On the screen, Okafor is open on the block for a pass inside. See More

Basketball Play - Duke Zone Hi/Lo Runner

Duke Zone Hi/Lo Runner

Wes Kosel 04/02/2015

Coach K called this play in the second half of the game against Robert Morris. The play sends the point guard running across the baseline to the opposite corner against the zone. Both post players inside look for opportunities to seal their defenders. Once the ball gets inside to 4, he looks to shoot, pass out for a 3-point shot, or pass down to 5 cutting to the basket. Basketball Play - Miami Hurricanes Horns Hi/Lo Options

Miami Hurricanes Horns Hi/Lo Options

Wes Kosel 03/29/2015

Here are two hi/lo options out of the horns set from Miami. Miami is playing well in the NIT with a chance to advance to the finals with a win over Temple. In these options, the Hurricanes use a horns staggered screen with the point guard dribbling from left to right. In the first option, 4 rolls and 5 sets a pin down for 3 in the corner. Once 3 gets the ball he looks to pass inside to 5 or to 4 flashing high post for a hi/lo look. In the second option, 4 sets a flare-screen for 5 before cutting to the block. If 5 isn't open on the screen, he sets a screen for 3 who gets the ball at the top of the key. 3 again looks at 5 or to 4 flashing high. See More

Basketball Play - "Post"

"Post"

Luke Riegel 03/27/2015

This set provide several opportunites to get your 5 man a post touch on each block. If you have a point-guard that is comfortable posting up, this set is a great opportunity to get him an early post touch on the block. After the initial UCLA screen by the 5 man, the point-guard tries to get a post touch, but if he can't, he immediately goes into another UCLA screen for the 5 to get him back on the block. If the 5 isn't open on the block, the ball gets reversed to the point guard. The 4 man immediately sets a ball screen for the point guard to help get the ball reversed to the other side of the floor. The 3 will sprint across the lane and set a cross-screen for the 5 man and another post up opportunity for him on the opposite block. The 4 man will finish the play with a down screen for the 3 to the top of the key. See More

Basketball Play - Triple/Double

Triple/Double

Andrew Lacey 03/26/2015

Here is a nice 1-4 Low set that gives your the inital option to have your point or lead guard take his man off the bounce. As that is playing out the other players create some movement to have defense looking to defend cutters. You can get a nice Hi-Lo out of your post game or catch and shoot option for your wings.
