UCONN Lady Huskies DHO/Shuffle Re-Screen Action
11/18/2016Geno Auriemma was supposed to be a re-building year after graduating Stewart, Tuck and Jefferson, All they've done to start this year is go 2-0. After a nail biting win over Florida State to open the season, the Lady Huskies knocked off the #2 team in the rankings Baylor. This play is a nice play to get Katie Lou Samuelson the ball off a shuffle cut, re-screen action. She cuts into the lane off Gabby Williams screen and then Williams quickly sets a second screen to free up Samuelson for a shot attempt. The UCONN Lady Huskies will be a team to reckon with yet again in Women's Basketball. See More

Duke ATO - Hammer Action
11/17/2016Duke ATO - DHO - WEAK SIDE HAMMER ACTION A great play from the Duke timeout utilizing the PG as your entry man at the elbow. 1 goes into a DHO with 3 out of the corner right into a ball screen by the 5 man moving across the FT line replacing 1 on the hand-off action. As 3 comes off the ball screen, 4 steps up to set the weak side Hammer Screen for 2 who drifts to the corner looking for a possible pass and shot attempt. Duke shows great shot clock management, as the primary option is not open, the ball gets reversed and thrown into the post. 2 Kennard makes a great read coming from the weak side corner, cutting to the FT line area making himself an option if the ball cannot be passed inside and showing the importance of moving without the ball. 1 & 2 exchange, ball gets kicked-out to 2 who cannot make a play. He throws the ball back inside, cuts into the lane for a possible give "n" go pass. 5 throws the ball out to 4 who dribble flips with 3 and sets a side ball screen. 2 Allen comes off the side ball screen action and gets a wide open jumper. Duke Early Offense Action
11/17/2016Coach K is as good as it gets when it comes to set plays and putting his players in a position to best utilize their talents to score. This action they ran most of the night against Kansas with good consistency. With the trio of Guards at Coach K's disposal, the middle ball screen at the end of the set is lethal as the defense has to decide how and where to help from as you have shooters all around the perimeter and talented big men inside who can finish at the ring. The beginning of the play with the wide pin down can also lead to good reads of either flares or curls and then the backscreen sets up the possible lob action to the ring. See More

Kansas Jayhawks Flair Double
11/16/2016Bill Self started the game really looking to get his guys involved in the Offense early. This is a nice Flare /DBL Screen action they ran for Graham looking to get him off from behind the arc. The play is made by Bragg who leaves the shoulder-to-shoulder double by stepping out in the way of Grayson Allen who is trailing Graham on the screen. This action by Bragg allows Graham to fill behind Mason's penetration for a wide open 3 pt shot. The Jayhawks showed some great Offensive sets in the game against Duke and this is just one of them. Cleveland Cavs - Box Double Rip
11/02/2016The Cleveland Cavs ran this play late in the 3rd quarter of their season opening game against the New York Knicks. The double back screen creates a look for 3 in the post. x5 has to help on the screen which gives an opportunity for 5 popping up top for a 3 off of the pindown screen. This can be especially effective when utilizing a 5 with shooting range, which the Cavs have with Channing Frye. See More

New York Knicks - Stagger Pop
10/26/2016The New York Knicks ran this early offense play in the second quarter of their season opening game against the Cleveland Cavs. They used it after a timeout to get Krystaps Porzingis open for a 3 point shot. 1 reverses the ball through 4(Porzingis) to the 2. 3 (Carmelo Anthony) curls around the staggered screen and sets a screen for 4 who pops out for the shot. This play is very effective when the 3 is an effective scorer who will draw a lot of attention. The 3 leverages that attention to set a screen and free up 4 for a shot. See More

10/26/2016The Cleveland Cavs ran this play in the second quarter of their season opening game against the New York Knicks. They used it after a timeout to get a wide open 3 pointer for JR Smith (3). 4 (Lebron James) initiates the offense with a dribble handoff with 3 and uses an Iverson cut to get the ball back on the wing. 4 immediately drives baseline then turns back to pass to 3 for the 3 point shot. 10/21/2016The Minnesota Lynx ran this play with the score tied 73-73 and 35.8 seconds left in game 5 of the WNBA Finals. Once the ball was inbounded, 1 made a UCLA cut into the mid-post area to receive the pass from 2. 3 (Maya Moore) set a back screen for the 4 and then ran off the screen from 5 to get the 3 point shot. Though 3 missed the shot, 4 was in offensive rebounding position and was able to collect the rebound and get to the free throw line. See More

Immediately on the catch the 1 drives baseline. The 5 sets the hammer screen to bring the 2 to the corner.
