Basketball Play - Crack Down Lob BLOB vs Zone

Crack Down Lob BLOB vs Zone

Matt Hackenberg 12/02/2021

It's baffling to me how often we would score on this simple play. We used it more as a BLOB special, about once every game or so. The less often you run it, the more effective it will be. The counter action, as seen in the diagram and in the embedded video, can also create some decent looks for your team, but that action requires more work once the ball is entered than the initial action. Basketball Play - Brush Throwback Lob (Zone Set)

Brush Throwback Lob (Zone Set)

Matt Hackenberg 11/30/2021

I always found this lob set to be creative and effective. I thought having it in the playbook was always valuable because I felt like we could steal an easy basket against zone defense, or at least get a high efficiency shot. Timing is so critical, but if the timing is perfected, this play will be hard to stop. Having your best passer in the position to throw the lob is very important, something I didn't always do a good job of when we ran this set. Miami Heat - Elevator Game Winner SLOB

Watch the video below as Coach Tony Miller uses FastDraw, the #1 play diagramming program for basketball coaches, to break down this sideline set from the NBA’s Miami Heat. Great design if you have two good shooters; one can be a decoy to set up the twist and elevator screen. There is also high potential for a screener slipping to the rim if their defender shows on the shooter. Send to your FastDraw library using the button above. Watch the video below as Coach Tony Miller uses FastDraw, the #1 play diagramming program for basketball coaches, to break down this awesome design from the Kentucky Wildcats vs Duke in the 2021 Champions Classic. Lots of great action here: -can run out of transition -appears to look like a stagger -2pt option for 5 at the rim -3pt option for 2 after screening Send the play to your FastDraw library using the button above. Basketball Play - Villanova Wildcats - Baseline Lob vs Zone

Villanova Wildcats - Baseline Lob vs Zone

Matt Wheeler 11/05/2021

Villanova runs this simple zone action to free up the 4 for a lob cutting from the baseline. 2 cuts across the court to the opposite wing which occupies x3. 5 cuts up the lane line to occupy x5. 1 dribbles to the middle of the floor making sure to keep the matchup with x1, so he doesn't have a chance to rotate. This opens up 4 to take a run at the rim for a lob from 1. Video clip below. See More
