Have switching defenses ever defeated you? The art of screening your own man to get a teammate open is rarely seen. But, it is a time tested strategy to counteract perimeter switching. Take a look at this simple 3 on 3 drill that teaches the screener how to adjust the screening angle to actually screen his own man.
This drill will help you incorporate the skip pass into your zone offense for open threes or post shots. The idea is to shift the zone with the first skip pass, then skip back over the zone to the original side for an open shot. Using a good screening angle on the second skip your best shooter can prepare to knock down a big three point basket.
Iowa State scored on Baylor on their first possession of the game using this play, "Baseline Double."
It is an easy three pass set that delivers the ball to a cutting scorer for a lay up off double screen.
In recent Northwestern-Purdue game this play yielded a basket for the Wildcats. The court was spread which allowed the cutter to get open by back cutting instead of using the screen by 5. Excellent BLOB play.
