Favorite Send to FastDraw1 passes to 4 cutting out to the perimeter. After the pass, 1 moves to the corner and 4 passes to 3. 5 sets a back-screen for 4 who looks for the lob pass from 3. If the lob isn't open, 5 sets a ball-screen for 3. 3 drives into the lane looking to score, pass to 5 on the roll, or kick the ball out to 4 or 2. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe point guard dribbles to the left wing pushing 3 in towards the elbow. 3 fakes cutting around 5 and instead pops out to the lane-line extended. 1 passes to 3 then cuts off of a triple staggered screen from 5, 4, and 2. 3 dribbles over to pass to 1 for a shot. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis option is very similar to the Slice Reverse option that Boston ran, and is another counter to get Blake Griffin a post up. The added wrinkle in L.A. is the addition of a 1-5 Side P/R. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawWhile the Celtics best utilized the Slice series with KG as the trail big, the Clippers prefer to have Blake Griffin start on the block. The Clippers used this setup to get Blake catches at his left block sweet spot. If the post up is not there, the 2 and 3 can play out 2nd side action for additional options. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawAnother set out of the Mike D’Antoni playbook, 4 Pop is designed for a shooting 4. While Blake Griffin has improved his midrange jumper each year, the main advantage of this set is putting Blake 1 on 1 against his usually slower defender at the top of the key. His driving ability makes this play an ideal Slice counter for the Clippers, and an option that the Celtics likely would not have been able to utilize with KG. A clear side P/R with Blake and CP3 is also a great 2nd option to have. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawAnother version of the basic Slice set. The first look is still a post up, but this set has the added variation of a pin down for the 2 if no post up opportunity is available. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis play comes straight from the Mike D’Antoni playbook, and sets up exactly like the basic Slice action that Doc Rivers used in Boston. While the option is there to bring any great post up player to the block, as D’Antoni often did with Carmelo Anthony in New York, this is really just a Spread High P/R in disguise. This is a money play for Chris Paul. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Slice formation allows the option to alter your alignment and bring any player off of the flex screen to a post up. In this Celtics set play for a KG post up, the play can start out of a normal Slice alignment, or a corner-filled “Weak” alignment. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawIf you are lucky enough to have a great player like Paul Pierce on your roster, sometimes no tricks are necessary. A simple Iso play out of the Slice formation is all that you need. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is also a Celtics counter to Slice Roll. This time, instead of the 4 receiving a staggered rip screen, the 2 receives a stagger screen for a catch and shoot opportunity. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a counter to the Boston Celtics Slice Roll for teams that deny the reversal pass to 3. Instead of swinging the ball to Pierce, the 4 man, likely KG, goes back into a DHO with 1, and then receives a staggered rip screen from 5 and 2. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis Slice option for the Celtics was a quick hitter that could be run at any time in early offense and didn’t need to be a called set. It is a quick reversal to the 3, into a Side P/R. With Pierce at the 3, there are a number of threats here that are difficult to guard. When KG is at the 4, the Pick and Pop is difficult to guard. If x2 pulls in to defend against the duck-in from 5, Ray Allen is sitting in the corner waiting to strike. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a great counter to Slice Double with KG at the 5. The setup is the same, but instead of Allen coming off of the stagger, he sets a cross screen for KG and then receives a pin down from 4. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawWith Ray Allen at the 2, new Slice options are introduced to provide him with catch and shoot opportunities. In Slice Double, the initial action is the same, but it is a setup to get Allen’s defender on the high side in the post, at which time he reverses back off a stagger screen from 4 and 5 with his defender trailing.
