Arizona - Motion
03/21/2017Sean Miller's Offensive sets are very creative, involve a lot of movement and do a good job changing sides of the floor. This Princeton type Motion Action invovles a lot of screening actions, incorporates two ball screens and forces the Defense to be aware of cutters and movements on the weak side. The opening action off the FT line elbow screen can yield a lob if the defender on the cutter gets hung up on the screen or is late trailing his man. Use also have the back screen Flex type cut for Trier which can get your 3 man a quick post-up or easy lay-up off the ball reversal step out from the 5 man. The play ends with either a SPNR or Step-up screen from the baseline. Well designed, easy to execute, but very hard to defend when utilizing a full shot clock. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawSt. Mary's Misdirection Double Ball Screen
03/21/2017This is a really well tought out set as the ball is entered on the break to the wing and then a quick screen on the trailing post leads to an early SPNR action to the open side. Fitzner can step out to shoot or roll depending on the defense plays it. If the 1st action isn't open, the ball is reversed and the passer sprints-to-screen on the ball, again a Guard-Guard action forcing the defense into a decision. If the PG cannot turn the corner, the 4 steps out to re-screen back to the two man side or the PG can attack down the lane. This is one of my favorite St.Mary's sets from Coach Bennett. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawSt. Mary's - Gaels Horns Set
03/21/2017The St. Mary's Gaels do a very good job running their half court sets, with good patience, spacing, and ball movement, they make the defense really pay close attention especially off the ball. This set out of a Horns, is very popular at the European level right now and the first action gives you a chance for a quick hitter off the back door cut. St. Mary's has Jock Landale who can pop or roll out of the SPNR action which makes him a double threat and can open up the driving lanes for the guards too get in the paint and cause rotations, which then leads to kick-outs for their proficient shooting from behind the arc. Favorite Send to FastDrawSouth Carolina "Nail Play"
03/21/2017South Carolina does an effective job running the "Nail Play" looking to get Sidarious Thornwell a quick look at an open 3. When the look isn't there, the offense continues with the Big-Big cross screen looking for a quick strike in the Post. The Gamecocks finish the set off with two PNR actions forcing defensive rotation and an open lane for 1 v 1 action from Dozier. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawFlorida Gators Wrap Stagger
03/20/2017Wrap around screen with a second screener "cleaning it up" See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawDuke - Weak Side Hammer
03/20/2017This 1-4 Low set provides a perfect action for the weak side Hammer Screen and 3 pt shot if the Defense collapses off the SPNR action. With Dukes perimeter shooting abilities, the defense must really choose who & how they guard this action. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawVanderbilt "Chicago Keep Pitch"
03/19/2017Vanderbilt ran this counter to their normal "Chicago" action, or a pindown from a big into a guard to guard hand off. In this action the 1 keeps the hand off to the guard and pitches it to the 5 for a shot. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawUPenn (W) - Transition STS Elevator Winner
03/19/2017Down 3, less than 10 seconds to go, and no timeouts remaining, Penn ran this "Winner" play after a made basket to try to tie the score in their first round NCAA Tournament game against Texas A&M. The shooter sets a down screen to free the reversal, then runs through a double post elevator screen to the corner for the open look at 3. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawMiddle Tennessee - PNR Misdirection Double
03/19/2017Middle Tennesse ran this play multiple times in their game against Butler. After the ball is reversed on the ball screen 2 cuts hard to the weakside. When 3 comes off the dribble handoff 2 changes direction to use staggered screen for a 3 point shot. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawIowa State - ATO BLOB 4 Low Stagger STS
03/19/2017After the 12 minute TV timeout in the second half, Iowa State ran this 4 low BLOB for a look at a 3. There looked to be an option for the 5 to set a screen for the 4 after 4's screen, but it did not happen in this instance as the 3 took the corner 3. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawSaint Mary's - Iverson Low STS
03/19/2017Saint Mary's ran this quick hitter action late in their game against Arizona immediately after an OOB Play. They use the Iverson cut as false motion to set up the double screen for a look at 5 in the post. 4 then sets the down screen for 2 for the 3 point option. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawPurdue - DHO 45 Baseline Double Stagger
03/19/2017With 48.3 seconds left in the 1st half, Purdue ran this quick hitter for their best shooter to get a 3 in the corner off a double stagger along the baseline. Good set for late clock situations, after timeout, or needing a 3. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawWest Virginia Flex Duck-In
03/18/2017West Virigina has gone to a flex cut, duck-in this year on the baseline which is very effective. When the Flex action doesn't work, the post players interchange and that Macon (C) and Adrian (PF) both good shooters are from mid-range, the elbow jumper off the wing pass is always a good option. Favorite Send to FastDrawWest Virginia - SPNP Action
03/18/2017West Virigina likes to run this action throughout the game especially with the luxury of having Adrian a true "stretch" 4 in the game. Carter (PG) has the option of either taking the UCLA screen or stepping back for a shot or drive. 2 (SG) Miles Jr. can then curl off the step out screen from Adrian and has the option to immediately come back and screen-the-screener (option in this set as well). The exchange on the baseline makes the defense turn their heads to guard and with Ahmad (SF) a strong presence also on the block, Coach Bob Huggins set play gets a lot out of their personnel.
