Basketball Play - Boston Celtics - PNR STS ATO

Boston Celtics - PNR STS ATO

Austin Anderson 01/17/2019

Brad Stevens is the best in the NBA right now out of time outs and in late game situations. This play is designed to get Tatum, Morris, or Horford a post up opportunity and to have Tatum, Brown, or Smart off a pin down. This action starts with a ball screen and ends in a pick-the-picker action. This action keeps every defender engaged. The first look is the post up. See More

Basketball Play - Toronto Raptors - Horns 4 Iso

Toronto Raptors - Horns 4 Iso

Cooper Smither 01/11/2019

With Nick Nurse taking over as the Head Coach of the Toronto Raptors for the 2018-19 season, he introduced a myriad of new plays and actions to the offense that he reportedly had a significant influence over during Dwane Casey's previous tenure. This play, loosely out of Horns formation, leverages the unique skillset of Toronto's emerging star in Pascal Siakam. By creating a large gap for Siakam to attack the closeout, and clearly scripting the play in a manner that Siakam is instructed to make the catch "on the run," Toronto has been able to score effectively on this simple action. Basketball Play - Ohio State Buckeyes - Loop Duck In

Ohio State Buckeyes - Loop Duck In

Dustin Cooper 01/11/2019

Loop cuts - also known as Iverson cuts - are a great way to shift a defense. Creating a shift followed by a counter flow can often lead to an open look. This set will almost always get you a low post catch when needed. In the video below, the ball is fed into the post from the slot. in MOST scenarios, I like the ball reversed to the lift which creates a much better angle for a post feed. See More

Basketball Play - Milwaukee Bucks - Ram STS Action

Milwaukee Bucks - Ram STS Action

Kostas Kalogeropoulos 01/07/2019

Milwaukee Bucks' head coach Mike Budenholzer runs this play to exploit Giannis Antetokounmpo's roll to the basket in an empty side or his shooters coming off a down screen at the top. In case defenders switch on the side pick, offense should target the mismatch situation inside (Antetokounmpo vs any point guard). Center should flash to the ball after setting the down screen and look inside if defenders switch (another mismatch option). Click for more Pick and Roll plays! See More

Basketball Play - Los Angeles Lakers - Fake PNR Double Off Ball Screen

Los Angeles Lakers - Fake PNR Double Off Ball Screen

Matt Barnthouse 12/19/2018

This is a play that has many moving parts, and is great for a team that loves setting screens. The Lakers used this to get an open look for Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. It starts with what looks like a basic pick and roll with LeBron James and Tyson Chandler. Then, Chandler turns his roll into an elevator screen for Caldwell-Pope, who then executes a give-and-go with James into an off-ball screen and flare screen that opens up a 3pt opportunity on the catch. For this to work, you need guards and forwards willing to sacrifice their bodies to make plays. It pays off, even if the spacing can get wonky at times. Also as a note: you don't necessarily need a "LeBron James" to make this play work. The 1 and the 3 are easily interchangeable. James just happened to be playing the 3 when he was the ball-handler on this play. Click for more plays and drills from Matt Barnthouse! See More
