This is a very simple concept out of a 3-2 alignment. We simply pass to the wing and cut underneath of the ball. This creates a gap to drive. We want to drive the gap to score or draw the defense to kick. This is a long form play with multiple options from a Princeton alignment and a floppy action to feature a dynamic player. If the player can drive, shoot, post up, finish off the cuts or use a ball screen there are options to do so. We used the play to feature a shooter, but a post up player or a driver could also be used, just different options would need to be emphasized. In this diagram and embedded video we have a set play to get a dynamic driver some space to operate. The play uses some false motion to open space up for a brush screen to be used to try to create an advantage to drive to the basket. I love these gap drive actions to take some pressure off the driver, and make the defense execute with the brush screen. In this diagram and embedded video, we look at the spread offense used in high school basketball. This offense uses the high post and a series of cutters to attack the defense in a variety of ways. This offensive concept has always been a unique and interesting play style to me, ever since I first saw it when Stephen F. Austin was running it under Brad Underwood in the early 2010's. The offense has evolved quite a bit, but in the video below you will see a lot of the more basic options used when it is ran at the high school level.
