Today's Play of the Day is from Tom Thibodeu and the Chicago Bulls, a set they've run for Nikola Mirotic. Chicago has employed two true big man lineups during the Thibodeau era, so having a shooting big man like Mirotic is something new for the team. As such, Thibodeau's playbook has expanded, and now features some nice sets for a shooting big man.
- 5 goes to set a side ball screen while 2 loops off a double screen on the opposite wing.
- As 1 comes off and 5 rolls, 2 and 3 then seek out 4's defender, allowing 4 to pop to the wing for the open three.
You'll see in the video that Denver denies the first ball screen, so 5 stays high and ends up making the pass to 4.
