Basketball Play - Spurs 1-4 High Lob

Spurs 1-4 High Lob

Wes Kosel 04/16/2015

1 passes to 4 cutting out to the perimeter. After the pass, 1 moves to the corner and 4 passes to 3. 5 sets a back-screen for 4 who looks for the lob pass from 3. If the lob isn't open, 5 sets a ball-screen for 3. 3 drives into the lane looking to score, pass to 5 on the roll, or kick the ball out to 4 or 2. See More

Basketball Play - Davidson Sets

Davidson Sets

Andrew Lacey 03/20/2015

Davidson is one of the best perimeter shooting teams in the NCAA Tournament. The do a great job of screen for the 3 and then putting pressure on the basket at the same time by using cuts away from the ball and slipping screens. Here is a little action they use in the first half against Iowa to get a easy lay-up and decent perimeter looks. See More

Basketball Play - Transition Track Down:

Transition Track Down:

FastModel Sports 04/15/2015

Place a cone at the feet throw line extended at the opposite end of the court. The offense can’t cut in towards the basket until after they reach that cone, which allows the defense a bit more time to catch up and avoids collisions at mid court. The defensive player works to track down the offensive player and make a play on the ball. It is important that players do not get out of control during this drill, and that they never hit one of their teammates while in the air...we don’t want anyone getting injured. Instead, the defender needs to work on doing one of the following: sprinting in front of the offensive player; knocking the ball out from behind; blocking the shot from behind; or catching up completely and working to stop further penetration. (Note: while this is primarily a defensive drill, it is also a great way for your players to learn to finish with pressure and/or small contact on the offensive side of the ball.) See More

Basketball Play - 15 Flash

15 Flash

James Ponchak 03/22/2015

Indiana ran 15 Flash for their first basket against Wichita State in the 2015 NCAA tournament. Yogi Ferrell had a clear path to the basket. If the shot wasn't there; he had a forward diving to the weakside block, shooters in both corners, and a safety valve up top. Indiana Lineup 1 - James Blackmon Jr. 4 - Robert Johnson 5 - Troy Williams 11 - Yogi Ferrell 30 - Collin Hartman See More

Basketball Play - 1 Thru

1 Thru

Kyle Gilreath 08/15/2013

This double stagger into a triple stagger from Florida State's Leonard Hamilton is a great action to get your guards coming off multiple screens. This play also creates a great situation to get 1 into a pick & roll action below the free-throw line. After 1 receives the ball, if they don't have any scoring options spread the floor and have 5 set a quick pick on the ball. See More

Basketball Play - Golden State Warriors "21 Chase"

Golden State Warriors "21 Chase"

Gibson Pyper 06/01/2015

An adaptation from the Phoenix Suns 7 Seconds or Less offense, this is an early offensive attack that has been very effective for Golden State. The idea is to push the ball ahead as quickly as possible to the wing with a pass or dribble. There are built in options into this series, with an option to dribble hand off back to the point guard, keep it and come off ballscreen, and look opposite for weak side player coming off of the screen. Basketball Play - Jayhawk Zone Cross

Jayhawk Zone Cross

Wes Kosel 03/20/2015

The Kansas Jayhawks used this play to start the game against New Mexico State's zone defense. The play starts with the Jayhawks in an overload on the right side of the floor. Mason (1) passes to Seldon (3) away from the overload. Ellis (4) moves towards Seldon as if he is going to set a screen. Instead, Seldon passes back to Mason and Lucas (5) screens the middle man of the zone. Ellis curls around the screen and gets the pass from Mason for a lay-up. See More

Basketball Play - Miami Hurricanes Horns Hi/Lo Options

Miami Hurricanes Horns Hi/Lo Options

Wes Kosel 03/29/2015

Here are two hi/lo options out of the horns set from Miami. Miami is playing well in the NIT with a chance to advance to the finals with a win over Temple. In these options, the Hurricanes use a horns staggered screen with the point guard dribbling from left to right. In the first option, 4 rolls and 5 sets a pin down for 3 in the corner. Once 3 gets the ball he looks to pass inside to 5 or to 4 flashing high post for a hi/lo look. In the second option, 4 sets a flare-screen for 5 before cutting to the block. If 5 isn't open on the screen, he sets a screen for 3 who gets the ball at the top of the key. 3 again looks at 5 or to 4 flashing high. See More

Basketball Play - Miami PG Screens

Miami PG Screens

Kevin Bruinsma 07/15/2013

A slight counter to the Heat's dribble handoff into iverson action as after the handoff the PG (#15 Chalmers or #30 Cole move down to the block to set a back screen for #1 Chris Bosh to post up. With #6 Lebron James playing the 4 and handling the ball the point continues up to ball screen for him. Another action to eliminate the high hedge. See More

Basketball Play - VCU Early Offense

VCU Early Offense

Andrew Greer 03/19/2015

Early offense from the VCU Rams during 1st half action vs. Ohio State. VCU used the action successfully on 5+ occasions during the 1st half. This set has multiple options but was used by the Rams to occupy help side defenders during the ball screen action. Ohio State had issues defending this with VCU getting multiple paint touches and open 3's. Ohio State when zone partly as a result of this action. See More
