Basketball Play - SLOB Need ISO vs DET

SLOB Need ISO vs DET

Mo Dakhil 01/18/2017

In Overtime the Blazers were faced with almost the exact same situation but this time they were inbounding the ball from the sideline. They lined up in a stack formation with McCollum on the bottom, he curls over the top of the stack and gets the pass from Plumlee. With the Pistons defender trailing him, it gives McCollum a enough time to catch and gather as he hits another game tying three. See More

Basketball Play - BOB Stack Need 3 vs DET

BOB Stack Need 3 vs DET

Mo Dakhil 01/18/2017

With 10.8 seconds left in the fourth quarter the Blazers were down by three and were inbounding the ball on the baseline. When the inbounder gets the ball, CJ McCollum darts out to the wing while Damian Lillard sets a screen for Al-Farouq Aminu and then runs to the weakside corner coming off an Allen Crabbe screen. Aminu comes off the Lillard pick to set one for McCollum who gets the pass from Mason Plumlee. The Pistons do not switch probably and McCollum drills a wide open three which forces overtime. Basketball Play - Dynamic Offense - Single Gap Issues

Dynamic Offense - Single Gap Issues

Randy Sherman 01/11/2017

Offensive landmarks Problem With Single Gaps On a stationary pass to a static player, the defender is closer to the ball than the receiver. Makes it difficult to complete pass and vulnerable to the steal. Problem With Single Gaps On penetration into the single gap the defender (X3) is quick to help and quick to recover on the pass out. No advantage is gained. Problem With Single Gaps The backdoor pass may be available, BUT if help arrives the only option available is a pass back out to perimeter. There is no open pass to the rim. Problem With Single Gaps With sagging defense, no backdoor cuts are available See More

Basketball Play - Lady Bruins Back Cut Post Option

Lady Bruins Back Cut Post Option

Dana Beszczynski 01/10/2017

This play was run by Cori Close and her UCLA Lady Bruins on Sunday night in their showdown with the Washington Lady Huskies. The Pac12 features one of the best levels of Women's Basketball and has the premier player in Kelsey Plum from Washington. This play starts with a DHO on the wing (if the PG reads the defense, she can keep the ball and attack the paint to the open side). A wide pin down on the weak side brings the 2 guard to the 3 pt line for a possible early catch & shoot 3 pointer if she's open. The Lady Bruins are a very disciplined team going through their options in this set. The Post at the FT line sets a back screen for a possible back door pass while on the weak side a down screen for the PG yields either a 3 point shot or dump in to the Post. After screening, the screener pops to the wing, receives the throwback pass and the option to post your 3 presents itself. If you're not watching Women's basketball on the West Coast, you should be!!
