Basketball Play - Miami Heat - EOG SLOB

Miami Heat - EOG SLOB

Ryan Nguyen 01/19/2018

Erik Spoelstra ran this EOG SLOB set in consecutive games versus the Utah Jazz and Toronto Raptors. Set is designed to use Wayne Ellington's gravity to pull two defenders onto him when comes off the flare screen from Kelly Olynyk to the strong side corner. Olynyk then sets a down screen for Richardson where he looks to attack on the catch after the inbound pass. See More

Basketball Play - Los Angeles Clippers - ATO Decoy Hammer Comeback

Los Angeles Clippers - ATO Decoy Hammer Comeback

Ryan Nguyen 04/26/2017

With the LA Clippers trailing 88-83 with 1:14 in the 4th quarter, they ran this ATO/EOG SLOB "Decoy Hammer" action against the Utah Jazz in Game 5. 2 (JJ Redick) sets a flare screen for 3 (Austin Rivers). This is decoy action as the defense has to make a decision whether to switch or not. In this case, the Jazz decide not to switch and this slight indecisveness (they switched on the 1/3 fake ball-screen action which might have caused some confusion) gave Redick space to run into a shot off of the comeback screen for 5. Basketball Play - Jazz Pitch 13 High

Jazz Pitch 13 High

Adam Spinella 01/29/2016

Quin Snyder and the Utah Jazz run this great pitch into a ball screen, where the man defending the screen-setter has a difficult time providing a hedge. The guard who gives the pitch cuts straight off a down screen, which -- if hedged by the defense -- puts them in terrible position to defend the ball screen. See More

Basketball Play - Jazz Special

Jazz Special

Bert DeSalvo 02/24/2014

Utah State MBB ran this set vs. UNLV MBB on 1-22-14 with 18:36 left in the 1st Half. This is a variation on the "Jazz" play that I contributed earlier. It still involves cross screen/down screen action, which the Utah Jazz were famous for in the 1980's and 1990's. See More

Basketball Play - Jazz

Jazz

Bert DeSalvo 02/11/2014

Utah State MBB ran this set vs. UNLV on 1-22-14. This vintage set was made popular by the Utah Jazz in the 80's and 90's. Stockton, Malone and Hornachek ran this effectively because it incoporated the best shooters into little on big screens and if this set was not available Stockton and Malone could easily get into pick and roll action.
