Basketball Play - Spurs Misdirection

Spurs Misdirection

Kevin Bruinsma 07/04/2013

A very similiar set to what the Indiana Pacers ran against the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals the Spurs ran a misdirection play against the Heat in the NBA Finals. Using the presence of #21 Tim Duncan they made it look like he was getting a cross screen, before #2 Kawhi Leonard turned right back around to set a stagger with #21 Tim Duncan for #20 Manu Ginobili. Basketball Play - Spurs Horns Stagger

Spurs Horns Stagger

Kevin Bruinsma 07/03/2013

The Spurs ran a nice variety of stuff out of the classic Horns set. They also loved to do things with a stagger action. Here they got their 2 the ball off a stagger and immediatly into a dribble handoff. This put the defense in a trailing position, and allowed the 5 to slip right to the rim for a basket against the Miami Heat. See More

Basketball Play - Spurs Swing Ball Screen

Spurs Swing Ball Screen

Kevin Bruinsma 07/02/2013

I really loved this action used by the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals against the Miami Heat. They look for the quick curl for the 2 man, get a shuffle screen, then a stagger, then a ball screen. This play is packed with multiple actions for the defense to guard and puts a lot of pressure on the man defending the 5 man. See More

Basketball Play - Spurs Flare, Shuffle, Ball Screen

Spurs Flare, Shuffle, Ball Screen

Kevin Bruinsma 07/02/2013

This set ran by the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals is packed with action. Utilizing the trailing post is the reverse man to swing the ball around the perimeter, they then run the strech 4 man off a flare screen while the 3 gets a shuffle screen from 5. This forces the back side to focus on their own man, the 5 man to protect the hoop on 3's shuffle. 5 then comes and ball screens the 1 man with the defense engaged else where. See More

Basketball Play - Blue

Blue

John Leonzo 06/26/2013

Here is another late shot clock play that was run in Calipari's first year at Kentucky. This set is a good one to run if you have a point guard that can create off the dribble and a post that can dominate inside. Very quick and easy action. See More

Wildcat

John Leonzo 06/25/2013

Here is a play that John Calipari ran in his first year at Kentucky. This was a great set for that team because of where it placed their extremely talented players. You had 5 (Cousins) in the post, 1 (John Wall) attacking off the ball screen, and 2 (Eric Bledsoe) coming off of the stagger. They would run this at the end of the shot clock to get a good look. Basketball Play - Pacer Misdirection

Pacer Misdirection

Kevin Bruinsma 06/18/2013

The Indiana Pacers ran this set a few times in the ECF against the Miami Heat. They utilized mis-direction against an aggressive Heat defense to keep Miami on their toes. Following the UCLA screen and flex screen the 1 man then turns right back around to get the 3, letting #24 Paul George run off a stagger screen. This brought the 1 off a down screen and gave him the ball back in a better scoring area for him to create. See More

Basketball Play - USA Jump Ball Play

USA Jump Ball Play

Kevin Bruinsma 06/03/2013

This is the opening tip play that Team USA ran against Team World in the 2013 Nike Hoop Summit which took place at the Rose Garden in Portland, Oregon. This set is a simple set that will take minimal time to teach your players, and something that can steal you an easy two points to start the game and grab the momentum like Team USA did here. Basketball Play - Memphis Staggered Rip

Memphis Staggered Rip

Daniel Murphy 06/02/2013

Memphis ran this play at the 5:21 mark of their game three loss to the Spurs. This layup by Randolph put Memphis up by 11. The Spurs made two consecuctive defensive errors on this play. First, Randolph was doubled in the post leaving Gasol wide open at the free throw line. After Pondexter ball faked to the free throw line both Spurs guarding Randolph ran to the free throw line. Z-Bo was left unguarded on the block for the layup. Regardless of the Spurs defensive lapses, this is a good set involving screening to get the ball into the post. See More
