Basketball Play - Elbow Away

Elbow Away

Kyle Gilreath 11/23/2015

Duke ran this half-court elbow set yesterday in their win over Georgetown. This is a set very common in the NBA and the Blue Devils do an excellent job with the execution. Grayson Allen has been the target of defenses early this season and this action puts him in multiple situations that cause the defense to be late and help the helper. See More

Basketball Play - Elbow

Elbow

Rory Hamilton 08/07/2015

The beauty of this set is its simplicity and freedom. The point guard looks to attack the top defender and drag off the point while the weak side post player flashes hard to the elbow for a potential shot. After the pass, the point guard cuts hard to hoop and then opposite block looking for a quick give and go. The weak side post player waits for point guard to clear and then flashes to elbow and the continuity continues. Another nice option off of "elbow" is creating a high low pass. After a post passes to elbow and cuts to opposite block, the flashing offensive player can immediately look to dump it inside to low posted player sealing off zone defender. See More

Basketball Play - SFA Elbow Double

SFA Elbow Double

1 passes to 4 who passes to 3 flashing up to the left wing. Once 3 has the ball, 2 moves to the left elbow with 4 and 5 flashes up to the top of the key. 3 passes to 5. Once 5 has the ball, 3 loops around looking for a hand-off. 5 can also look to pass 1 cutting off of a doubl-screen from 2 and 4. See More

Basketball Play - Golden State Warriors "Elbow Lob"

Golden State Warriors "Elbow Lob"

Steve Kerr has also used alot of action that the San Antonio Spurs have run with their Motion Strong/Weak and he runs nice options out of this for quick hitters. The first option is a rub screen for Draymond (look for them pointing or hitting their elbow's coming up the court to trigger this). They also run a quick pindown screen for Klay that they like to start each game with, as well as a lob set for Livingston. I think they will run the lob for Shaun Livingston as an entry or way to get him into the post, his matchup off the bench may be Matthew Dellevadova that he clearly will have a height advantage with. Basketball Play - Houston Rockets Elbow Get

Houston Rockets Elbow Get

Craig LeVasseur 05/12/2015

Houston used this play multiple times in the 1st round series against the Dallas Mavericks. Josh Smith and Dwight Howard posed massive problems defensively for the Mavericks with this play. Dwight Howard slipped or rolled hard for multiple lobs, sealed x4 when the defense switched, and even sealed on a switch and then spun out again for a lob. Add in Josh Smith's ability to finish with his running left hook in the lane, and this play caused fits for the defense. See More

Basketball Play - Dubuque Overload Elbow Offense

Dubuque Overload Elbow Offense

Wes Kosel 05/09/2015

In this play, the point guard dribbles to the left wing as 4 moves from the corner to the perimeter to replace 1. As 1 is dribbling, 5 screens down for 3. 1 passes to 4 who looks to pass to 3 for a shot. If 3 isn't open, 4 dribbles towards the right wing and passes to 2. 3 dives to the low post and 5 elevates. 4 then screens down for 3 who cuts up for a shot. See More
