Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Michigan State Spartans played the Kentucky Wildcats on Tueday night in the Champions Classic at the United Center in Chicago. This was an early season match-up of numbers 1 & 2 in the polls. Kentucky came in with a vaunted recruiting class and the two coach's are surely one day too be in the Hall of Fame. This play was run by Tom Izzo's Spartans when they needed a basket. It is a well designed play out of the 1-4 High Set. What makes this play so effective is the weak side cutting action eliminating any helpside defender. The key to this play is the screen from the 5 man on the PG's defender. Here the 5 man sets a perfect screen on x1 setting up the pass from 4 for 1 who puts in the lay-up. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawMarquette Head Coach Buzz Williams ran the 4 High Series and this is an easy to use set for all levels. There is a good over the top action to being freeing up the 2 man on the wing who can look to drive if the defense gets hung up in the screen. Second, they run a good UCLA action for the PG who cuts to the basket looking for a possible pass. You get a ball reversal and baseline screen for 1 who comes out looking for his shot or post entry to 5 sealing in. There is a Zipper action for the 3 man who cuts off 5 to the basket looking for a quick hit lob pass or direct lay-up. The play ends with a SPNR between 5 & 1 and the spacing is excellent coming off the screen as the shooters spot up on the wing and corner, 4 dives to the weak side block. A great all around set with multiple options! See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a set which was used by the Duke Blue Devils in order to get the ball inside to their 5 man Duke really does a good job emphasizing spacing by using the 3 pt line and their shooters are in a perfect position for a kick-out pass to the weak side The diagonal back screen sets up a quick hit for 4 in the post and the action continues with 5 screening on the wing lifting 4 off the block to the wing for a possible inside pass to 5 on the throw back from 2 Coach K's sets really make the players "read" the game and take advantage of the what the defense gives them See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is the winning shot hit last night by Casey Jacobsen for the Brosebaskets Bamberg of Germany in their Euroleague match-up against Anadolu Efes Istanbul from Turkey. He spent one season with Bamberg before returning stateside to play with the Memphis Grizzlies before returning overseas to Germany to play with storied club Alba Berlin. Since 2009, Jacobsen has been back with the Brosebaskets Bamberg leading them to 4 Titles. Head Coach Chris Fleming is a graduate of the University of Richmond and has success at every stop he's been at in Germany as a Head Coach. This is a well designed play especially with the screen on the inbounder enabling the penetration and kick action. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawIn the Bucks-Celtics game on 11-1, the Bucks ran a double backscreen for Larry Sanders out of Horns to try to get him a lob. The play was run out of the Horns formation and flowed naturally into a four-out set with a screen-the-screener action. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawEvery coach needs to know how to defend these plays we call "america's plays" because it seems everyone runs variations of these plays. These actions include cross screens, stagger screens, and back screens. Coaches can instruct defense on how to defend these actions See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawWhen we see scout, we try to simulate the opposing teams actions in our defensive breakdown drills. This play has backscreens, and double stagger screens. These are difficult actions to defend when ran correctly. This gives coaches a time to break down these actions in practice. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawWe use these actions to prepare for teams that use 1-4 High sets. Teams in our area run "butt screens", screen the screener looks with down screens and flare screens. This is a good drill for coaches to specifiy how they want to defend these actions commonly seen in games. See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawWhen playing good defensive teams, it can require simultaneous actions to occupy the help and open up more scoring opportunities. The play below gives you several scoring plays to counter any defensive rotations. 1. Screening 4 into the pick & roll with 2 can cause X4 to be late and give 2 a mid-range jumper. 2. If X4 and X2 to caught guarding 2, 4 will be open on the pop/roll as the rest of the help defense is occupied in the weak side screening action. 3. If the defense falls sleep or focuses more on the side pick & roll 3 may be open for the lob. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawNate McMillan ran this sideline out of bounds play while with the Portland Trailblazers. 2 has the option depending on which way X2 plays him, he has the option to go off either the screen from 1 or 4. See More
