Basketball Play - Utah Jazz 1-4 High Double Back Screen

Utah Jazz 1-4 High Double Back Screen

Al Baker 09/16/2013

This is our entry into the little-big back screen that the Utah Jazz used with John Stockton and Karl Malone back in the day. You may be able to get the ball to the 2 on the first basket cut, but more often than not the x5 defender will be sagging on the back screen, leaving 5 open to catch on the wing. If your 5 isn't a shooter, you may want to change up personnel to avoid allowing that defender to play off the ball and take away the entry to 4. See More

Basketball Play - 1-4 High Ball Screen Drag

1-4 High Ball Screen Drag

Al Baker 08/19/2013

This is a tricky play to defend--especially when teams are fighting over screens--because of the back-to-back stagger screens. If your 5 can shoot it, you may also look to him shaping up after 1 cuts off his screen, since his man may be sagging to help with the cutter. See More

Basketball Play - Scissors (1-4 look)

Scissors (1-4 look)

null null 08/05/2013

This is a common play in our area of Northwest Ohio that I'm sure is used in college and pro's. This play is great because it is designed to for a high post entry, and a "scissor" cut with 2 guards. You can get good looks for 3's off the scissor cut and double screen. This play also offers a chance to enter to the post player with a double screen and post entry, or the big can fake handoff to both players, and have a high post isolation. See More

Basketball Play - Loop 2 & Shooting Breakdown

Loop 2 & Shooting Breakdown

Daniel Murphy 08/02/2013

Simple entry into a side ball screen. If you are fortunate enough to have some assistant coaches or managers and can have them pass, then you can run through your offense and get game spot shots at the same time. Be creative and I'm sure you can find a way to make a shooting drill out of your 5-0 offense. This will save you time and get players realistic shots within the offense. See More

Basketball Play - Trickle (1-4 High)

Trickle (1-4 High)

Adam Spinella 08/01/2013

Too often, 1-4 High offenses neglect post players because they're designed to accentuate the perimeter scorers - getting baskets for your post men is just as important, if not more important, when your normal motion sets don't accentuate it. Trickle is a play designed to get one of the post players a quick opportunity for a layup or post move. See More

Basketball Play - Loop 2 Chase & Shooting Breakdown

Loop 2 Chase & Shooting Breakdown

Daniel Murphy 07/31/2013

Counter to Loop 2, sets up a middle ball screen. If 1 can't pass to 2 on the wing, 2 drifts to the corner and 5 ball screens 1. After 1 throws back to 5 on the pick and pop, 5 can shoot, dribble hand off with 2, pass to 2 and follow for the corner pick and roll, or drive at 2's defender to draw the help and kick out for an open 3. Coaches can pass to make this a 5-0 offensive drill in addition to a game spot shooting drill. See More

Basketball Play - Wing ISO Post Curl

Wing ISO Post Curl

Adam Spinella 07/20/2013

This was a play I saw the Pacers run against the Miami Heat in Game Three of the Eastern Conference Finals. It got Roy Hibbert a wide open shot near the rim, but before that action took place, Paul George started to back down his man in the post on an empty side, indicating an isolation option for George. Coach Frank Vogel drew up a great play here to get his two best offensive players good looks in the same action. See More
