Basketball Play - Tennessee Volunteers - Early Offense: Baseline Runner Duck in

Tennessee Volunteers - Early Offense: Baseline Runner Duck in

Dustin Cooper 02/04/2019

A set designed to get a DEEP post catch! Tennessee is the best team in the country at getting deep post position using physical duck ins. I call this a "False Motion" set because it uses actions to disguise what they want to get to in the end, in this example Coach Rick Barnes uses a baseline runner to get a deep post look. After 3 screens, in he gets his defender to relax and then ducks in the paint for a catch. Click for more NCAA Top 25 XsOs! See More

Basketball Play - Tennessee Volunteers - Early Offense: Down Screen Flex Screen

Tennessee Volunteers - Early Offense: Down Screen Flex Screen

Dustin Cooper 02/04/2019

Another staple of Tennessee's offense is the combination of down screens followed by flex screens on the weak side. Once again, with Grant Williams and Admiral Schofield as screeners, it makes it extremley difficult for defenders to get through. A key to this specific action is 3 must set up his defender by getting below the level of the screen and then sprinting off of the screener shoulder to shoulder. How does tennessee make these simple actions so effective? Simple, physical screens and physical cuts! Click for more NCAA Top 25 XsOs! See More

Basketball Play - Zone Offense: Quick Hitter - " Kansas "

Zone Offense: Quick Hitter - " Kansas "

Dustin Cooper 01/24/2019

Coaches - if you want an easy two points against a zone defense, add this to your playbook ASAP! This is a action that we have ran as a BLOB with tremendous success. See the diagrams and video in my playbank! We decided to start running this as a half court set as well, and this is what we came up with. Run your best shooter along the baseline to distract the wing defender. Once that happens, the hook is set and we seal the middle of the zone allowing a clear path for a layup. Basketball Play - Xavier Musketeers - Horns Rub Quick Hitter

Xavier Musketeers - Horns Rub Quick Hitter

Dustin Cooper 01/22/2019

A very simple but effective set out of the Horns formation. You may think this will never work, but the proof is in the video below! This was a staple out of Chris Mack's Horns series when he was at Xavier. I like this action because even if the initial action is guarded, you can seemlessly flow into another Horns action like flex, 45 ball screen, etc. Click for more Horns sets! Basketball Play - Ohio State Buckeyes - Loop Duck In

Ohio State Buckeyes - Loop Duck In

Dustin Cooper 01/11/2019

Loop cuts - also known as Iverson cuts - are a great way to shift a defense. Creating a shift followed by a counter flow can often lead to an open look. This set will almost always get you a low post catch when needed. In the video below, the ball is fed into the post from the slot. in MOST scenarios, I like the ball reversed to the lift which creates a much better angle for a post feed. See More

Basketball Play - Iowa Hawkeys - Double Stack Flex

Iowa Hawkeys - Double Stack Flex

Dustin Cooper 01/10/2019

A creative flex action used by Iowa head coach Fran McCaffrey. This play starts in a low double stack. This action is difficult to guard because x1 will tend to relax once he gets through the false back screen. As 1 comes off the back screen, he is immeditatley setting a flex screen for 2. This limits the time that x1 has to see the action develop. More: Shooting Drills that Enhance Your Flex Offense See More

Basketball Play - Clear - Ball Screen Reject ATO

Clear - Ball Screen Reject ATO

Dustin Cooper 12/13/2018

Rejecting ball screens is a creative way to get your players to drive downhill. I like to use this set after a timeout after seeing how a team is defending ball screens. The more times a team has seen ball screens, the more likely they are to get caught cheating the screen allowing your player to reject the screen and get to the rim. See More

Basketball Play - Indiana Hoosiers - Zone Attack (2 plays)

Indiana Hoosiers - Zone Attack (2 plays)

Dustin Cooper 11/11/2018

Overloading against a zone can be overwhelming for the defense. Indiana coach Archie Miller uses these two overload actions to create a 1 on 1 matchup with his bigs vs the middle of the zone. 1: In the first video clip, the wing defender is confused on who to cover and leaves the corner wide open. 2: In the last clip, the wing tries to split the wing and corner offensive player, leaving a 1 on 1 in the post, which is exactly what the Hoosiers are looking for.
