In this 1-4 high option, the Kentucky Wildcats enter the play with a pass to 4 at the high post. Once 4 has the ball, the point guard cuts through the lane to the opposite block. 5 rubs off of 1's cut looking to get a hi/lo pass from 4. If that option isn't open, the ball is reversed to 1 on the left wing. With the lane open, 5 sets a back-screen for 4 who cuts to the basket. If that's not open, 3 screen for 5 who looks to get a shot at the elbow. If Kentucky still doesn't have a shot, 5 will dribbles towards the right wing looking to pass to 3 flaring to the right wing. Here is a 1-4 high zipper ball-screen play from Kentucky. The play begins with a dribble entry to the right wing pushing the ball-side guard down to the block to make a zipper cut off of 4. Once 2 has the ball, 5 sets a ball-screen. 2 attacks from right to left as 5 rolls to the basket and 4 replaces 5. 2 also has the option to pass to 3 in the corner if 3's defender helps on dribble penetration. Here are two hi/lo options out of the horns set from Miami. Miami is playing well in the NIT with a chance to advance to the finals with a win over Temple. In these options, the Hurricanes use a horns staggered screen with the point guard dribbling from left to right. In the first option, 4 rolls and 5 sets a pin down for 3 in the corner. Once 3 gets the ball he looks to pass inside to 5 or to 4 flashing high post for a hi/lo look. In the second option, 4 sets a flare-screen for 5 before cutting to the block. If 5 isn't open on the screen, he sets a screen for 3 who gets the ball at the top of the key. 3 again looks at 5 or to 4 flashing high. See More

Here is a lob option used by Rick Pitino and his Louisville Cardinals. The play uses a lot of side-to-side action getting the defense to chase cutters around the floor. The play starts with all 5 players above the free-throw line. The point guard passes to 4 then cuts to the basket off of a back-screen from 5. If the quick lob isn't there, 2 cuts across the floor weaving between screens from 5 and 4. Once 2 gets the ball, he gets a staggered ball-screen from the bigs. Here is a zone lob play used by head coach Jeff Culver at UCCS (University of Colorado-Colorado Springs). The UCCS Mountain Lions had an incredible season going 27-6 and winning the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament Championship over Metro State. This play was used to get Derrick White (25.8 ppg) a dunk against a 2-3 zone defense. The play starts with the ball moving to the wing and back to the point guard. With White on the wing, a back-screen is set as he sneaks in behind the defense for a lob and a dunk. See More

The play starts with a pass entry to the wing then a loop by the point guard down to the rim and back out to the perimeter. 4 gets the ball in the short corner and looks for an opening to make a move for a shot. Lon Kruger called this play in the second half against Albany. In this BLOB, the Sooners are trying to get an open shot on the perimeter for Buddy Hield. Hield starts out at the block in front of the ball. The play starts with a cross-screen by Hield for 4. 4 gets the ball at the elbow and gives the ball to the inbounder on a dribble hand-off. Once the point guard has the ball back, he sets up a misdirection by dribbling left as Hield cuts off of a staggered screen out to the right wing. 1 passes to Hield for a 3-point shot. See More

Here is a flex option used by Oregon in the first half against Oklahoma State. The Cowboys defended the action well, but it looks like a good set-up for future plays from the Ducks. The play starts in regular flex with a flex-screen and down-screen. Instead of continuous flex, 2 and 4 set a staggered screen for 3 on the weak side and 1 clears out to the corner.
