Basketball Play - 2v2 Full Court Get Back

2v2 Full Court Get Back

Drew Hanlen 11/01/2013

Live 2v2 in the half-court. The Black Team starts by attacking the Red Team. As soon as the Black Team scores or gets stopped, one member from the Red Team has to take the ball out of bounds and inbounds to the coach at the top of the key, while the Black Team players that just played offense have to sprint back on defense. As soon as the coach at the top of the key receives the inbounds pass, he will pass to the coach on the opposite side of the court. Once the second coach receives the ball, he will hit either of the new players from the Red Team (3 or 4) and it will be live 2v2 against the Black Team players that sprinted back on defense. Offense to Defense. Defense to Inbound Passer. Inbound Passer and other Teammate to back of your team lines. Black Team vs Red Team. Keep track of points scored for six minutes. Loser has punishment for every point they lose by (sprints, defensive slides, closeouts, push ups, etc) Rules on Offense: Three dribbles MAX and one pass per possession. See More

Basketball Play - 1v2 Rebounding

1v2 Rebounding

Drew Hanlen 12/06/2013

This is a great drill to get your players to box out on defense and crash and avoid box outs on offense. Too many rebounding drills benefit the taller players and don't truly reward players for boxing out or getting around box outs, so this drill is perfect to reward pursuit effort. See More

Basketball Play - Get Open Drill

Get Open Drill

Drew Hanlen 10/09/2014

This is a great drill to work on screening, using screens, passing and catching! Set Up: Ball handler will start with the ball at the top of the key and will be pressured by an on-ball defender, while another offensive player will start under the rim with a defender in full denial. Two all-time screeners will start just outside each second hash mark. Step 1: Offensive player under the rim will try to free themselves from their defender by using the screeners in any way that they want (curl, pop, fade, wiggle, etc), while their defender will try to deny them from receiving a pass from the ball handler. Step 2: If the offensive player frees themselves from their defender, the ball handler will complete a pass to them. After passing the ball, the original ball handler will make a basket cut to the rim, while the offensive player that received the ball will dribble the ball to the top of the key. The offensive team will try to complete eight catches in a row, while the defenders try to get a steal or force a turnover. Ball handler can be called for a five-second violation. Additional Info: If the offensive players successfully complete eight catches in a row, they will become the next screeners, the defenders will stay on defense and the screeners will move to offense. If the defenders get a steal or force a turnover, they will become the next screeners, the offensive players will move to defense and the screeners will move to offense. Basketball Play - Game-Like Three-Man Weave

Game-Like Three-Man Weave

Drew Hanlen 04/07/2014

If you're like me, you HATE the traditional three-man weave drill because players don't take it serious, players make bad passes, players travel during the drill and players shoot uncontested lay-ups (which rarely happens in games). Here's two great variations of the three-man weave that are actually game-like and will get your players better!
