For a catch and shoot player it is all about catching the ball in enough space to get his shot off. This play is good because it gives the shooter the option to come off the down screen or baseline screen. Giving the shooter options makes it a lot harder on the defender as well. Shooter needs to set his man up and not be predictable on his cut. Don’t let the defender dictate which screen you go off. Offense's goal is to simply dribble the ball into the paint -- no shots, just get into the paint safely with both feet and under control with the ball. This game really helps with a "no help needed" mentality guarding the ball -- something we say all the time to our players. We want them in "one-on-one mentality" when guarding the ball. This is a fun set to install. The players will love it and you'll love the result. We use a pass I first saw late one night watching FIBA basketball on NBATV. Think Manu Ginobili type play. Your player passing will sprint to the baseline, jump out of bounds and complete a cross court pass. I like this pass because if the defense tips it you get to run a BLOB (see my other posts) and most defenders, mine included are going to stop at the baseline.
