Basketball Play - 1-4 Euro

1-4 Euro

Adam Spinella 07/15/2013

This play out of a 1-4 High set is one of my favorite quick-hitting sets, particularly in the end of a game. It draws up a quick three-pointer for a stretch 4 and an opportunity for a slipped layup at the rim. It's simple enough to be run at a variety of levels, provided your team has a solid decision-maker and passer who can play the wing. See More

Basketball Play - Rondo

Rondo

Brandon Mullis 07/14/2013

This is a quick hitter that we used to run several seasons ago. It was called "Rondo" for Rajon Rondo of the Boston Celtics, who ran some similar actions. This set could be used as a quick-hitting set to flow into your normal offense, or it is also good action that could also be used at the end of quarter/half/shot clock. See More

Basketball Play - Stacks High

Stacks High

John Leonzo 07/12/2013

Here is a set play that starts out with high stacks and morphs into a 1-4 set. This is a great set because it gets the ball swinging from side to side, has action going both towards and away from the basket, as well as a ball screen. You can also adapt this play so that 2 and 4 play pick and pop after the ball screen or you can pop 1 out for a 3pt chance off a stagger screen from 4 and 5 after 4 ball screens 2. See More

Basketball Play - Back Reverse

Back Reverse

John Leonzo 06/21/2013

Here is a set play that Bucknell ran in the NCAA tournament this year against Butler. This is a counter to a similar action that they ran earlier in the same game. In the previous play 2 would cut to the corner opposite the ball and 1 would hit 3 on the wing for an ISO. In this counter 2 stops his cut under the basket and pops to the top of the key for a catch and shoot opportunity. This is an effective set when coupled with the previously described play. This is a great misdirection quick hitter! See More

Basketball Play - Pacer 1-4 High Set

Pacer 1-4 High Set

Kevin Bruinsma 06/14/2013

This is a set the Indiana Pacers ran against the Miami Heat in the 2013 Eastern Conference Finals. Looking to get their marquee player, Paul George a isolated post/wing catch the Pacers sent #24 George to the opposite side of the court before coming back hard to the ball on the reversal for deep post position. If #24 George couldn't catch the ball deep he moved out to the mid-wing area for a catch. This is where Indiana ran a great alternative action to get an even deeper post touch. #50 Tyler Hansbrough after entering the ball to George comes down the lane and sets a screen for #55 Roy Hibbert right in the middle of the lane, who now gets a deep post catch right in the middle of the paint. Basketball Play - Double Cut Special

Double Cut Special

Randy Brown 05/19/2013

On ball entry, 1 cuts to the lane to screen for 3. 3 uses screen to score possible catch in lane then continues to right short corner. 4 pops out to catch ball reversal from 2. Screen the screener action as 5 screens for 1. On 1's catch, 5 steps out of the lane to screen for 3 who cuts into the paint to catch and score. Give it a try! See More

Basketball Play - Olympiacos 1-4 High

Olympiacos 1-4 High

Daniel Murphy 05/16/2013

Olympiacos ran this set with less than two minutes left in the first half of their Euroleague semi final win over CSKA. It is a relatively simple play, with the guards looping to set up a side ball screen, but the corner drift and flare from 4 to 1 kept the weak side defense occupied to free up the roll man. 2 could have passed to 3 in the corner, 1 coming off the flare, 4 slipping a screen, 4 stepping out after setting the screen, or 5 could have popped after setting the screen. Basketball Play - NBA Best Play of the Night May 9: Oklahoma City Thunder: UCLA Set

NBA Best Play of the Night May 9: Oklahoma City Thunder: UCLA Set

Daniel Murphy 05/09/2013

OKC ran this set midway through the third quarter of game 2. At this point Durant had only taken 9 shots. He had the ball in his hands a lot and was facilitating for his teamates. This was a great set to get him a touch with the ball out of his hands. After he hit this shot he got it rolling to finish out the quarter. The UCLA Ball Screen-Stagger is a common set with a lot of options, many of which are posted on FastModel. Reversing the ball back to a shooter coming off a pin down is a great option. See More

Basketball Play - Vegas

Vegas

Randy Brown 05/05/2013

This can be run as a play to end the half, game, or to get an open three anytime. 1 makes UCLA cut to the basket. He stops inside the block and cuts up the middle of the floor to catch and shoot a three. 3 and 5 set double screens and "close the door" and free him for a shot. Give it a try! See More
