Basketball Play - Timeline Drills / 4.Two foot layup

Timeline Drills / 4.Two foot layup

Tom Kelsey 10/26/2012

Got this drill from Duke and watching JJ Reddick. After catching the ball, crossover and get into the paint. Objective is to get to the other side of the rim. Two foot layup allows player to get balance and protect the ball. This is a game like drill that gives players confidence when penetrating the paint. Give them moves where they can score at the rim vs. defense. See More

Basketball Play - 'Nova - Zone Set

'Nova - Zone Set

Luke Riegel 10/26/2012

This 2-3 zone set overloads one side of the floor and puts pressure on the top 2 guards in the defense. It's important for the PG to aggressively turn the corner on the ballscreen by 5 to put pressure on X1. Your best shooter (2) should be coming off a downscreen by 4 at the same time and should have an opportunity for a jump shot. See More

Timeline Drills / 3. Cross over to the elbow

Tom Kelsey 10/25/2012

Player must quickly move around defender or cone. Drill puts presure on player to catch, dribble and move to shooting area without traveling. Spend time working with players on using proper footwork. This drill helps players catch the ball in game like situations. Can never work too much on footwork. Being able to catch and put the ball on the floor is a skill. Like other skills it has to be drilled properly. See More

Basketball Play - Sparks Transition Set

Sparks Transition Set

Michael Bowden 10/25/2012

This is a nice transiton set that I have seen on countless NBA, WNBA and Mens and Womens NCAA teams for a couple years now. There are many options out of it and have only included a few. There are ones that include back side staggers, two man games, double post ball screens etc... This is a simple secondary set you can put into your offense that is a little more complicated than the standard transition drag screen. See More
