About This Play/Drill

Mount St Mary's ran this Horns split action several times in their game vs. Texas Southern. This play incorporates a nice side split/screening action with the guards and finishes with a side PNR. The side PNR coupled is difficult to defend due to the weaskside down screen taking place at the same time. This type of action is seen a lot in the Princeton offense.

  • Horns alignment: play begins with a 4/5 cross screen to get the 5 man open around the elbow area.

  • Point guard passes to post at elbow and then screens down for the 2 man in the corner. The 2 can reject, curl or use the screen. On a curl, the screener pops back for return pass from the 5 man.

  • On the pass to the 1 man, 5 sprints to a side PNR while at the same time the 2 man comes off a weakside downscreen by the 4 man. 1 man looks to throw the lob to the post player or hit the 2 coming off the screen.
