Arizona State pulled off the upset victory over their long time rivals Arizona on Friday night.
Herb Sendek has proven he's a winning coach at every stop during his long career. The Sun Devils are 8-4 in the PAC 12 and overall 19-6 on the season.
This Box Set was one of their most used plays on Friday night and it has 4 really solid options all predicated on whether the ball is entered in the post to start. With a guard-guard exchange on the baseline to begin, the back screen determines which the way the offense will go as this is designed to get Bachynski the ball in the post. The Set continues though when this option isn't available and overall, this is a highly effective, easy too install set play.

1 (Carson - 1) dribble enters to the wing
As this is happening:
2 (Marshall - 34) crosses the lane and exchanges with 3 (McKissic - 40) who comes to the ball side block -
OPTION 1:
3 (McKissic - 40) sets the back screen for 5 (Bachynski - 13) who dives to the ball side block looking for the pass from 1 (Carson - 1) -
OPTION 2:
If the initial post-up is not available on the ball side:
The ball is reversed from 1 (Carson - 1) to 3 (McKissic - 40) popping out to the TOK
3 (McKissic - 40) passes to 2 (Marshall - 34) on the wing who looks to isolate 4 (Jacobsen - 21) on the opposite side -
OPTION 3:
1 (Carson - 1) receives the side ball screen from 5 (Bachynski - 13) who pops off the elbow
3 (McKissic - 40) comes up like he is going to screen and then pops out to the wing
1 (Carson - 1) looks to quickly throw back to the wing -
OPTION 3: con't
3 (McKissic - 40) has the option to throw the ball inside to 5 (Bachynski - 13) on the throw back pass
In this situation:
3 (McKissic - 40) looks to take his defender off the dribble - he gets in the lane and kicks the ball to the corner to 4 (Gilling - 31) who has exchanged with 2 (Marshall - 34)
1 (Carson - 1) relocates on the dribble penetration -
OPTION 4: When the post pass is not available
1 (Carson - 1) reverses the ball to 3 (Barnes - 4) who quickly passes to 4 (Gilling - 31) popping out to the wing off the elbow -
OPTION 4: con't
3 (McKissic - 40) exchanges with 1 (Carson - 1)
4 (Gilling - 31) executes a DHO with 1 (Carson - 1) in the middle of the floor -
OPTION 4: con't
5 (Bachynski - 13) sprints into a middle ball screen with 1 (Carson - 1) who comes off the screen and pulls-up for the jumper
1 (Carson - 1) has the option to hit the roll man off the screen or kick-out on the two man side for a spot up shot
