Drill to work on a specific open court finishing move and counter move while polishing handles..

FRAME 1

  • A) Player 1 begins at the elbow with ball in outside (right) hand and begins to execute a series of inside-out moves through the cones. [note: emphasis on good inside fake by stepping between cones]

     

    B) Player attacks near-side elbow and executes an overhand front crossover spin move and finishes at the rim on the right side. [note: emphasis on sharp flare cut to left on overhand front crossover then immediate spin back to right]

FRAME 2

  • C) Player 1 repeats the inside-out move on the other return side with ball in the outside (right) hand. [note: emphasis on good inside fake by stepping between cones]

     

    D) Coming out of last cone, Player 1 crosses ball over from outside hand to inside hand and attacks near-side elbow with next dribble.

     

    E) Upon crossing elbow and entering the paint, Player 1 executes an overhand front crossover spin move and finishes at the rim on left side. [emphasis on sharp flare cut to the right on overhand front crossover then immediate spin back to the left]

FRAME 3

  • A) Repeat entire Frame 1- Frame 2 sequence with left hand..Player 1 begins at the elbow with ball in outside (left) hand and begins to execute a series of inside-out moves through the cones. [note: emphasis on good inside fake by stepping between cones]

     

    B) Player attacks near-side elbow and executes an overhand front crossover spin move and finishes at the rim on the left side. [note: emphasis on sharp flare cut to right on overhand front crossover then immediate spin back to left]

FRAME 4

  • C) Return with left hand..Player 1 repeats the inside-out move on the other return side with ball in the outside (left) hand. [note: emphasis on good inside fake by stepping between cones]

     

    D) Coming out of last cone, Player 1 crosses ball over from outside hand to inside hand and attacks near-side elbow with next dribble.

     

    E) Upon crossing elbow and entering the paint, Player 1 executes an overhand front crossover spin move and finishes at the rim on right side. [emphasis on sharp flare cut to the left on overhand front crossover then immediate spin back to the right]

FRAME 5

  • Repeat with shakedown variations to provide additional repetitions for refinement of finishing attack move.

     

    Shakedown variations:

    1) front double cross

    2) front cross/through the legs

    3) through the legs/front cross

    4) through the legs double cross

    5) through the legs/behind the back

    6) double behind the back

    7) mix it up
