Basketball Play - UConn Huskies WBB - Triangle

UConn Huskies WBB - Triangle

Rory Hamilton 04/01/2022

Initial Set-up: Slots and Wings with 5 at the nail. Play can be run to either side. Play is initiated with a pass to the wing. UCLA screen by the 5 for the 1. After setting the UCLA screen, the 5 pops out for ball reversal. On the 5's catch, it triggers actions on both side of the court. A back screen ball side, and a flare screen on the weakside. The 5 immediately runs a DHO with the 1 and then comes off a ball screen. The 1 should read the PNR along with the 2 and 4 staying spaced and ready to shoot on the weak side. See More

Basketball Play - Cleveland Cavaliers - Triangle Twist BLOB

Cleveland Cavaliers - Triangle Twist BLOB

Tony Miller 12/22/2021

Watch the video below as Coach Tony Miller uses FastDraw, the #1 play diagramming program for basketball coaches, to break down this BLOB design from the Cleveland Cavaliers and coach J.B. Bickerstaff. This STS action seems like it would be for 2, but is actually for 4. Yet if the defense drifts to 4, 2 will be wide open for a layup. Send to FastDraw using the button above. Basketball Play - Triangle Continuity Zone Offense

Triangle Continuity Zone Offense

Matt Hackenberg 12/02/2021

This diagram/video looks at a continuity action to run against zone defense. Every season we had a "base zone offense," meaning when we saw zone, we were automatically in that zone concept unless the play call was overridden by myself. This is a great option for a base zone offense. It has some movement, and is simple and effective. We cut a player from the back side into the middle of the zone looking for a penetrating pass into the zone. The player exiting from the middle to top tends to suck the guards out, leaving the middle more open. The embedded video shows the concept in more depth. Basketball Play - Triangle Delay Concept

Triangle Delay Concept

Matt Hackenberg 12/01/2021

This diagram looks at a delay game tactic. This strategy and spacing are hard to disrupt. The concept is very simple - use a down screen out of a 2-1-2 alignment to milk the clock, looking for opportunities to attack if the defense extends too far. The embedded video below has plenty of clips to see the strategy in action. Basketball Play - Las Vegas Aces - Triangle Rip Flash Flare EOG SLOB

Las Vegas Aces - Triangle Rip Flash Flare EOG SLOB

Aseem Rastogi 06/01/2019

The Aces ran this SLOB as they were clawing back in a tense game with the Phoenix Mercury. The most dangerous person in this situation is the inbounder, Kayla McBride. Well timed and executed screening creates an opportunity for her to get to the rim and finish. Basketball Play - Texas A&M (W) - Double Stack High-Low / Triangle & 2 Attack

Texas A&M (W) - Double Stack High-Low / Triangle & 2 Attack

Aseem Rastogi 03/30/2019

In their matchup with Notre Dame, Texas A&M had to deal with a Triangle and 2 on their two best scorers, Chennedy Carter and Kayla Wells. They were ready with another excellent quick hitter to get a potential post to post high low for a layup. Using Carter and wells to create space, they were able to use well-timed pin screens and the defense against themselves to find openings to score. See More

Basketball Play - Texas A&M (W) - Double Low / Triangle & 2 Attack

Texas A&M (W) - Double Low / Triangle & 2 Attack

Aseem Rastogi 03/30/2019

With 2:45 left in the 1st quarter against Notre Dame, Texas A&M ran this beautiful quick hitter against ND's Triangle and 2 defense. With elite scorers like Chennedy Carter and Kayla Wells, Notre Dame employed a junk defense to slow them down. TAMU was ready and ran this to get a 2 on 1 at the rim. Though they didn't score (blocked layup), the preparation for this defensive adjustment and the players' ability to execute was fantastic. A good set to keep in the back pocket for teams with the luxury of having two stellar scorers. See More
